The Chester Residence
Ranked #1 of 151 Hotels in Edinburgh
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 13 January 2012

The Chester residence is without doubt the finest place we have stayed, from the amazing facilities gorgeous apartments to the ever welcoming staff!
nothing is too much trouble for them, anything you need anytime day or night they arrive at your door with a smile.
we were lucky enough to have a penthouse suite which was just amazing no expense has been spared to make it look and feel amazing, also with a stunning view of Edinburgh castle!
we stayed with our 11 month old baby and it was like a home from home experience but with all the luxury and more that you would expect from the most expensive 5 star hotels! we will definately return the sooner the better!

Room Tip: we had a tour of them all they are amazing cant see any reason why we would not stay in any of them...

* We booked a 1 bed apartment, although there was only 1 bedroom you could still have a lot of people over for dinner in the lounge/dining area

* The location was pretty good, no need to get taxi's

* On street pay & display parking outside, we just kept topping up by phone

* The apartment itself was beautiful and quite homely with everything you could possibly need during your stay

* The staff were really friendly and helpful

Have just spent my 3rd trip to The Chester Residence with my 4 good friends where we thoroghly enjoyed our home from home experience with a touch of luxury, staff and management were very attentive as usual and even booked our visit for Dec 2012 before we left, spreading the word to others, can't fault you at all. Looking forward to seeing your refurbishment however not sure what you can improve on. Well Done Everyone !

This place is fantastic. I hate everything, even you for reading this review. Yes you! But I love this hotel, I stayed here for quite some time and I just loved it. Central to everything from transport to anything in the central Edinburgh area. I stayed here alone which I regret but hey, always a next time!

The reviews of the Chester Residence just speak for themselves.
A fantastic location right in the heart of the West end.
Very easy access to all the sights, bars, clubs and eating establishments.
The staff on reception are very helpful and simply cant do enough for you, as for the Apartments... awsome ! In fact the worst thing abuot staying here is that the room is soooo nice - you find it very hard to leave and go out and visit the city !!!
lots of nice touches in the rooms - decor amazing.
Trip Advisor need to add a 6th Star for such Hotels / Apartments.

Room Tip: We had the Apartment 6/4 with the Cinema Room - awsome

In order to distract my wife from terrible morning sickness i booked the Chester Residence as a little 2 night pre-festive treat. Having never even heard of this place i gambled on the review's of my fellow Trip advisor brethren. You did not mislead me one bit.

The staff are welcoming, professional and very attentive. Upon arrival we were told our apartment had been upgraded which was a lovely surprise, the lady at the front desk then kindly took us up to show us how everything works. We were greeted by a huge drawing room with beautiful period features and a wonderful roaring fireplace. The apartment also had a fully fitted kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom. Amenities included Sky+ television, digital surround sound, underfloor heating, Nespresso machine, Molton Brown/Jo Malone toiletries and Bo Concept Furniture. Chester Residence have certainly accomplished the perfect mix of period town house features with contemporary living. Quite simply the finest room (for lack of a better word) that my wife and I have ever stayed in, so much so that we abandoned our dinner reservations and had Friday night in with a takeaway, Bliss!

If you've never been and you are reading this review just imagine your dream apartment and double it.

We visited the chester residences as part of a few days away as a little treat. We had read numerous reviews and to be honest were expecting to be impressed from what we had read.
Firstly, parking is the only real negative. Parking on the street is quite expensive, but in the grand scheme of things, not really a problem.
From entering the reception area you can tell that the quality and attention to detail was very high. The receptionist and concierge were polite and very helpful. We received a free drink on arrival and were taken to our room. Our concierge carried our bags and drinks to our room, and showed us around, making everything easy to understand. From this, our first impression of our room was 'wow'. The decor, furnishings and generally everything were perfect, easily the best we have stayed in for some time. The bathroom was very large and the bathtub with telly at the end was superb. Every room had a large lcd/plasma televsion and there was sky TV aswell, not to mention a very good music surround sound system. We didnt use the kitchen much, as we didnt intend on cooking, but from looking around, there was plenty of equipment, aswell as all the kicthen appliences you could ever need incl a wine cooler and tassimo machine. . So as I have said the were really no problems or disapointments with the room or hotel itself.
However a problem did occur with the in-room dining. We had chosen a 3 course meal each, which unfortunalty arrived very cold and also completly wrong. Having had a long day, we really couldnt be bothered moaning, so popped it in the microwave and carried on.
At check out, I raised the problem with the concierge person, which to my surprise handled the problem with the upmost courtesy and professionalism. The cost of the meal was taken off our bill and an appology made. This was far more than we expected, and very much impressed myself and my partner. I couldnt recomment this place any more if I tried, i have felt like a salesman for the chester residences for the last few months, as I have told everyone of the high quality, personal touch that this hotel provides, not to mention the 5-star.

Just to add we stayed in the penthouse suite and highly recommend the room

AMAZING

Room Tip: Penthouse suite, very large and just perfect
