We just spent a fabulous 4 days in Edinburgh, made even better by our stay at the Chester residence.
We are a small family of 3 and a had booked a 1 bed apt. with an extra bed for the little one. The room sizes were great, the bedroom could accommodate us all more than adequately. The apartment was impeccably decorated, with all the convenience of being virtually at home. The staff were friendly, attentive and had provided us with some toys and books as they knew we had a small child. This was a wonderful touch.
The residence is walking distance to the town amenities and castle. We were blessed with dry weather so were able to explore the city in all its glory. All the taxi drivers we used knew exactly where the Chester Residence was, without us even having to give the address!!
We drove from London to Edinburgh and had reserved a parking space with the hotel, which was a little tight for our 4x4 but I would imagine more than fine for all other vehicles.
This was a wonderful residence, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

Room Tip: All rooms seem fab!

Where to start? Upon arrival, the friendly staff got us into the room. Once they opened the door, my jaw dropped. The "2-Bedroom apartment" wasn't just two rooms but a full on apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All the finishes were top notch, location was amazing. The staff was incredibly attentive, and even hilarious at times. Being in the West End is great because you're close to all the amenities of the city centre and the places on the West Side. If you're going to Edinburgh, look no further for an amazing hotel in a great location.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom apartment can easily fit 4 people.

We stayed midweek, the location was very peaceful but within reasonable walking distance of all major attractions. We had a penthouse suite, it was extremely well equipped and spacious. There are quite a lot of stairs, but it was worth it for the view of the castle from the window. The staff were very helpful and made some excellent restaurant recommendations, which they then booked for us. Highly recommended, we will return.

Room Tip: I liked the penthouse for the views, but you need to be fit for the stairs!

We wanted someplace quiet, yet not too far from the city center. The Chester Residence delivered as advertised. We had a beautiful 1-bedroom with a HUGE living/dining room. The bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen were all very nice, modestly-sized, but the living room was really a gem.

But first things first. We were met at the airport (bleary-eyed) and taken directly to the hotel around noon. Our room was ready for an early check-in, and the staff were able to merge two separate reservations so we could keep the room for the duration of our stay (don't ask why I had two separate reservations, please).

We loved the style of the hotel, and the staff were amazing. The best comparison is actually the Trump International in Chicago, but on a different scale. The decor is clean and modern, and everything was spotless and in the proper place. The staff bend over backwards to be helpful, from check-in to pouring a drink in the lounge to finding a hair iron to making dinner reservations to calling a taxi at check-out.

If you don't like walking, Edinburgh probably isn't for you. But the Chester is an easy walk to anyplace, and on a quiet street. Williams Street, a short 5-minute walk towards the center, has a few friendly restaurants and pubs. Sticky Toffee Pudding is recommended.

We'll definitely return to Edinburgh. And we'll definitely stay at the Chester Residence!

Room Tip: Someone had the room above ours, and we barely heard any noise. These buildings were built in a dif...

My wife and I bought tickets to see the Lion King at the Playhouse and decided to stay at the Chester Residence for two nights. Spread across various streets, this apartment-hotel hybrid has converted classic townhouses into highly desirable mini-break destinations. Located in Edinburgh’s west end, the Chester Residence is within 10 minutes walking distance to the city centre. We checked into the Penthouse Suite; an enormous apartment comprising of a bedroom, bathroom and separate open plan living room and kitchen. The floor space is incredibly generous; the price per square meter is excellent value. The room is on the top floor (good exercise) but the building we stayed in did not have any elevators. Please bear that in mind when booking your room. Our suite was very well equipped, with Sky TV, ceiling mounted speakers, daily stock update of milk, still and sparkling water and of course free wireless internet access.

The bathroom comprised of a deep bathtub (with comfortable head rests), wall mounted TV, his & her sinks and an enormous double shower with rain-shower head.

The apartment is lovely with contemporary décor and spotlessly clean. It is worth noting that loud parties are strictly forbidden, in consideration of other guests. Subsequently, the Chester Residence is very quiet – pretty impressive considering how close to town the hotel is. In fact, we never even saw another guest.

The staff was very polite, friendly, unobtrusive and impressively efficient. Everything from check-in to organising taxis was swift and effortless.

We took the train into Haymarket and would recommend others to leave their cars at home, as parking can be difficult and expensive. The hotel does have a car park but spaces are limited. It is a lot easier (and cheaper) to organise public transport into Edinburgh. The hotel itself is a short walk from Haymarket station.

Lastly, the other thing I wanted to highlight is the amazing breakfast. There are no greasy fry ups here; everything is strictly continental. Unlike some other hotels, which charge guests £17 for mass produced rubbish to be slopped onto your plate, the Chester Residence has an À la carte option so guests can decide exactly how much or little to order. We opted for freshly baked pastries and smoked salmon and cream cheese. Furthermore, the breakfast is delivered to your room; a godsend for us climbing up all those stairs.

Room Tip: You can pay a supplement of £50 to secure a specific room. However, it appears that they are all fan...

This was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in, and we almost didn't get to stay because of our own mix up! We go to the Chester around 5 p.m. after an exhausting day of travel only to find that our travel agent never made the reservation for us. Mark and his team treated us so kindly and had us unwind in the lounge with a glass of champagne while they sorted it out. They were able to secure us a room after a guest cancelled last minute and we were thrilled. These rooms are actually designer apartments with all the amenities of home. The decor was beautiful and once we stepped into the room, we didn't want to go out for dinner! However, after the young man at the front desk graciously brought us take out menus from spots all over town, we did decide to take a stroll in the drizzle. (We had a large umbrella provided by the Chester, of course) The concierge secured us a reservation at a hip steakhouse, Kyloe. We had a wonderful dinner there as well. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was yet another welcome glass of Prosecco compliments of the Chester!! We felt so special staying at such a wonderful spot. Our only regret is that we didn't plan to stay longer! We will DEFINITELY return. A must in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Any room would be perfect. No bad room in the house. Exceptional value. You won't believe you ar...
