“Kids unfriendly ”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

At Night, kids are not allowed to stay at the lounge. There is nothing to do with kids. There are a lots of stairs and no elevator. Inside is beautiful, a little bit dark. Have a place to cook, but is far away of the market. Bags to carry in 3rd floor with stairs.

My partner and I had a wonderful short weekend break at The Chester. The hotel is located in an elegant leafy part of Edinburgh, only 5-10 minutes walk from the main airport bus/tram drop off point and easy walking distance to Princes Street and other main attractions. We were immediately made very welcome by all the staff and the level of service throughout our stay was first class. The apartment was extremely spacious and well furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable.
Overall a superb place to stay in Edinburgh.

Chester residence review

My wife, son and I spent five nights at the Chester Residence. We were in the 9/4 (?) apartment, which is the downstairs unit on the left as one faces the main hotel entrance. I booked the apartment after I saw the glowing reviews and and I was not dissapointed.

The apartment was spacious: two large bedrooms, each with its own bath. There was also a guest bathroom, and a sizable kitchen with a living area facing a small garden.

In the upstairs lobby there was a sizable DVD collection available for guests' use at no extra charge. The apartment's living area had a good-sized flat screen TV (Sky network) with a DVD player. BTW, the bedrooms had their own TV's, too.

The facility was ideal for the vacationing traveler. Some business travelers might miss some facilities that mainstream hotels offer (meeting rooms, restaurants, etc.), however.

While my wife and I lounged on the sectional couch one morning looking into the garden, we were struck at the peacefulness of the scene. The garden door was open but silence reigned: no city noise... Our apartment felt like a countryside retreat. My wife said, "now I really feel like I'm on vacation".

The residence is a little off the beaten path, about 1.3 miles from the castle, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby and cabs are reasonable.

We had a wonderful few days in Edinburgh and the Chester Residence was one of the reasons our trip was so memorable! Planning our activities throughout the city was a breeze with the helpful front office staff and their recommendations were perfect. We really enjoyed our trip outside the city with Paul King to see the castles, distillery and learn about the local sites. The accommodations were beautiful and spacious for the three of us. With the exception of a trip to Leith to eat at the Kitchin we walked everywhere. Thank you Chester Residence!

We will always have fond memories of the Chester Residence. We had the pleasure of staying there on a recent trip to Edinburgh, which was our first visit to this beautiful city. The Chester Residence is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is about a 15 minute walk from the Royal Mile. Our apartment was huge, beautifully decorated and included a living room that could easily seat 12 persons; a great desk/work area; a full service kitchen with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and tea pot; a large marble bathroom with double sinks; and a master suite that was awesome. The staff, including Allie, were friendly, courteous and catered to our every need. They also arranged airport transfers and a private tour of the Highlands and Glencoe with Paul King Tours, which was outstanding. The Chester Residence is THE place to stay in Edinburg and we look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Apartment 9C on the second floor was awesome.

What a perfectly beautiful apartment in Edinburgh's Old Town. Frankly, much larger than my apartment in NYC with two bathrooms, a huge living room and bedroom and every possible amenity. An easy walk to a number of good restaurants and a short cab ride from both the train station and the Royal Mile. If you're willing to a walk a bit, the Royal Botanic Garden is only about a mile away. We found the Chester Residence to be just right for our first Edinburgh visit.

The Chester residence was stunning.it is in a quite street, and pleasant walking distance to the royal mile and other attractions. We felt v. V. Safe. Haymarket train station is extremely close by, with lots of restaurants. Waverely station is under 15 min walk. Nice Italian restaurant affordable a short walk towards prince street.
