We stayed at the Craigmoss just this weekend and I cannot praise it enough. It is in an excellent location, the staff are brilliant and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. We really felt at home there and were made to feel so welcome. The bed and pillows were AMAZING! Thank You to all at Craigmoss. This guest house represents excellent value for money...we will be back!!!

So I have just come back from a weekend stay here and it was lovely we arrived late at 10pm and the owners didnt mind they said we could come and go as we please. Room was clean and spacious and the pillows wow. We went into Edinburgh centre the next day with was about a 15 minute walk a lovely walk and some lovely pubs near by we found the b and b easiky and we drove and parked round the corner. All in all I would go back much cheaper then other places near by and also breakfast was lovely :)

We stayed at Craigmoss for 2 nights recently. The room (comfortable bed, TV, drinks) and the private bathroom were clean, warm and nicely decorated. Arriving late at night was not a problem, owners of the guesthouse were very helpful, and we received a lot of information about where to go and what to see. Location was ideal, 15-20 minutes walk from the station, city centre (Castle, Princess St.) and also from Holyrood Palace. Nice breakfast (variety of options) and the lovely decorated interior made our stay enjoyable and cosy.
Would recommend!

We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2013.

As we were travelling in the evening from Manchester we were not due to arrive until late Friday evening. The owner, Isobelle, was very accomodating of this fact and we made arrangements that allowed us to check in with ease upon arrival.

Having checked in to the room we decided to head in to the City to see what it had to offer in the evening. We were pleasantly surprised that it only took us a 10 minutes or so to get to the Centre. The benefit of the proximity to the City Centre was further evidenced the following day with a range of local cafes nearby for breakfast once we turned on to the main road.

We had a double room with private bathroom suite, which was across the hall. Whilst not ideal having to walk across the hall, the bathroom suite and the room were both lovely and clean. I would say the possibility of running into someone in the hall is remote, but nevertheless is something that you should consider when booking a room here.

On the Sunday we decided to have the breakfast provided by the Guest House. This was excellent. The cooked breakfast was not overly greasy, which it so often can be, but the best option (highlighted as such on the selection sheet) had to be the natural yoghurt with fresh fruit and honey. It was refreshing and delicious.

As our train journey wasn't until 4pm and check-out was at 10.30am we were concerned as to where we may leave our bags, but Isobelle was more than accomodating of this fact and we were able to leave our bags at the Guest House until we were ready to depart to the station at about 12pm.

TIP: If you are wanting to use your last day to explore near the Castle or that side of the City and are catching the train from Edinburgh Waverley station, I would recommend taking your bags to the National Gallery, which has lockers for hire for a refundable deposit of £1. This is much better than using the storage facilities at the station that are £7 per item for 24 hours or part thereof. So for our two items we paid nothing at the National Gallery but would have been charged £14 at the station for only a few hours storage.

At such a low cost we were expecting an average standard BnB but on arrival we were surprised that the place has beautiful decor and is spotlessly clean. We were made so welcome by Isobelle the owner and she made our stay memorable. TV and drinks in our room and a clean bathroom. The homemade Scottish breakfast was amazing. Thanks Isobelle :)

Room Tip: We opted for the cheaper room which has a separate private bathroom. This is well worth saving the p...

We stayed only one night but we recieved a warm greeting and alot of helpful info about how to get around and where to go. The rooms are small but cosy and well decorated - heated towel rail made all the difference!! The only issue is this is an old building, which I loved, however it means no lift so I hadto lug very heavy suitcases up the stairs. Maybe pack a smaller bag with what you need and leave the gigantic suitcase in the car. Breakfast is delicious too! I would definately go back here.
