Wasn't sure what to expect from Edinburgh but good location for walking to town and getting feel of place. A busy place with lots to see an do. Only scratched the surface in our 2 night stay but saw heaps. great breakfast and very good hosts. Hard to rate value for money as we found it very expensive....no with to offend. Would have loved to stay longer. Thanks

I arrived in Edinburgh on Tuesday 16th July with my daughter, my mother and little Kelty the Lhasa Apso. We had a booking though a letting agency and had been badly let down by them. It was late in the afternoon and i left my mum and daughter to go into the city to try and find somewhere for us. After 2 hours in the tourist information office i had no luck and got on the bus to return to my mum with the sad news that our holiday would be cancelled and we would have to sleep on the floor of my friends house that night to get the train in the morning. I was devistated.

On the bus i was looking out the window as we travelled along Pilrig Street and i saw a vacency sign, i actually jumped up shouting STOP THE BUS! STOP THE BUS! yes its true my fellow passengers may have been a little shocked, but the bus stopped and i found Craigmoss Guest House. Im sure Isobel probably thought i was quite mad as i was close to tears as i explained what had happened but she had a family room for all of us including the wee dog and i could have hugged her.

The room was beautiful, the beds were wonderfully comfortable, the whole house is gorgeous and breakfast was fantastic. To top it off Isobel is one of the nicest women ever.

I found Craigmoss Guest House by chance but i recommend to all, dont leave it to chance, give them a call if your going to Edinburgh. This is the best guest house you will find.

We had an overnight stay at the hotel in the top twin room. Its ideally situated for Leith Harbour & Princess st. We got a good deal but I don't think we'd have paid the full price if that's what was on offer. Also a very nice breakfast too.

Craigmoss was a short walk to the city centre, situated in a street filled with B&Bs. A little tricky to locate! The room was lovely, very clean, with a number of beds for us to choose from! Soft bedding and a comfy bed. I was very excited about the breakfast, having read previous positive reviews. This was, however, an exercise for me in remembering to read the fine print! We were given menus to look at for breakfast and we each chose tasty-sounding dishes from a fairly wide range of options. The next morning our meals were prepared promptly and they were, in fact, as tasty as they sounded. However it did surprise us to find out, on check out, that the breakfasts weren't included. And they weren't cheap. Admittedly our fault for not checking the fine print on our booking, but it would have been nice to have been to have been told/reminded of this, so we could make our choice - as we have been elsewhere. Otherwise, a really nice place to stay - just be warned that the breakfast ain't free!

We highly recommend Craigmoss ~ Isabel is a very friendly host in this family run B &B. Bed and room was large and very comfortable. Great choices on the breakfast menu. I appreciated high protein options that included but were not limited to a traditional Scottish breakfast. Whole B&B was very clean & neat. Easy walk to Princes Street if one is reasonably fit. We will be back! ~ Travelling from Canada.

The apartment is very central for the town centre - about 20min walk. We managed to park outside at first but were told be a local resident in no uncertain terms that it is parking permits only and the only other parking space we could find was about 1 mile away so we wouldn't recommend this apartment if you are travelling by car. The "garden area" is a grassy space to the side of the property (unfenced). We couldn't find a way into the rear garden so we were gald we didn't bring our dog as there was no secure place for her. It is also used by all the other local residents so there was a selection of tatty old chairs there. I am afraid that the kitchen utensils hadn't been washed properly and I had to clean the grill pan and frying pan before use and there was a sticky substance int he bread bin which I didn't notice at first until I put a loaf in and it stuck to the bottom. We were also woken up by exhaust fumes from a car outside the bedroom window as the window does not shut properly. All in all we were dissapointed as we have stayed at the guest house twice and it has been fine.

Room Tip: Not suitable if you need to park nearby

I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay in the apartment. We will certainly look into the cleanliness issue as it is not something that has ever been a problem. Having stayed with us twice previously you will know the quality of service we offer. The apartment is not advertised as having an enclosed garden. The parking is out with our control but as in most major cities parking is a problem. You have been fortunate when staying at the guest house that there is free on street parking. The windows are left open at times to air the property but it is a ground floor city centre apartment and with the windows open there is a risk of city fumes coming in. I would also like to say that guests who use the apartment enjoy staying there, they find the apartment comfortable and especially like the location and proximity to the city centre.I do hope this has not put you off returning to stay with us and thank you for your comments as we do value them.
