Description: "Fresh, bright, and delicious" The Edinburgh Larder Bistro on Alva Street at the west end corner of Prince’s Street, with its light interior and conservatory, is the ideal place to enjoy seasonal, Scottish food! The Edinburgh Larder team works closely with local farmers, fishmongers, fruit, vegetable and drinks suppliers to bring you the best of local Scottish produce. With a regularly changing seasonal menu and daily market specials, you will experience the delicious flavours of the Scottish countryside. The buzzy atmosphere of The Edinburgh Larder Bistro is the perfect ambience to unwind as you clear your plate of daily specials and menu favourites, and quench your thirst - try one of the incredible botanical drinks produced in Scotland (Edinburgh Gin and Pincer Vodka are our favourites!); Scotch malt whiskies; or Scottish brewed beers. There's a range of carefully selected wines and fizz - we specialise in sourcing interesting bottles from small artisan vineyards, and we make our own cordials, and serve Edinburgh-based Artisan Roast coffees and Eteaket teas.

Unfortunately this gem is due to close at the end of this month. We had lunch here midweek, and although not very busy, had a nice atmosphere. A cosy little place with booths as well as tables, the food is excellent and well worth a visit. Hopefully someone will snap it up and keep it going.

We were told this was their last night. Not surprising. They seem to believe that they are serving good home cooked food. They are not - they are serving bad home cooked food, and at some cost. £23 for a steak, £16 for a few frazzled vegetables and £3 for a small pot of dark-brown burnt chips. Also apparently this restaurant which serves burgers does not have ketchup or mayonnaise! I find the other flattering reviews utterly incomprehensible. This was the worst meal I have eaten in a long, long time.

This restaurant was ok and the staff were very friendly. There was loads of vegetarian and vegan choices as well as meat and fish dishes. The restaurant was clean. The food we had was ok but there was way too much coriander used in everything. The wine we had was a cheapish bottle but really nice. The puddings were quite unusual as I had a gin jelly and mint ice cream which was nice. I probably wouldn't eat here again.

Lovely restaurant - very intimate and we loved the little undercover space up some steps. Staff were friendly, interesting menu and food was delicious.
Wine menu didn't look too exciting but our wine was ok
