“Haggis neeps and tatties a must”
Reviewed 26 January 2014 via mobile

Been in twice over two days on burns night weekend. Saturday night - nice atmosphere bit busy but no problems getting seated a couple of pints of st andrews beer(highly recomended local beer) sensibly priced drinking while other half was having red wine which she said was pretty good. Sunday afternoon. Great services not crowded asked if we where eatting when we sat and ordered haggis neeps and tatties food arrived quickly and it was good quality hot and good sized portion partner just ordered a dessert and staff where more than happy to serve both at the same time. Good music both visits. Nothing massivley loud and banging.

Would deffinatly make a return visit when in the city

“Lovely food”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Really nice place for an evening meal - we tried to go in on the Saturday just before Christmas and it was full of groups of people out drinking which wasn't quite what we wanted so we visited on the Sunday night instead as it had been highly recommended. The food was really nice and great value, service was excellent and portion sizes huge!

“Great value - quality AND quantity!”
Reviewed 27 December 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this inviting pub without searching on tripadvisor, the classic, inviting exterior beckoned us in as we were after a decent pub meal with a choice of local whiskeys.
We ordered the fish n chips (haddock) and the steak and ale pie. We upgraded to the larger fish not knowing what would come out. I've never been served that much fish in my life and both dishes were delicious. The fish was very fresh too.
Both meals were each under £10 and with a local whiskey and large cider our total bill came to a smidge over £20. We were completely surprised by the quality of this meal and how lucky we were to accidentally come across it. Perhaps the quality in Edinburgh is generally high but we will definitely be returning to this little gem!!!
