“poor food and extremely slow service”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

On previous visits to the bar we had enjoyed the food so went back again. Selected the special Easter menu. We sat waiting for an hour for our starters, which were very small portions. The main courses arrived 40 minutes later and were mediocre and only just eatable. The lamb gigot was raw in the middle and oozing blood. The waitress checked with the chef who advised it was okay to be served like this. She offered to have it cooked a bit more but I refused because we had all been served, had been waiting by this time for over an hour and a half and had a two hour drive home. There was an air conditioning vent directly above the table which cooled my food so quickly that it was stone cold before I got to the end. The lamb was tough and inedible as it turned out. The waiting staff were lovely though. Bar supervisor said we should have given them the opportunity to fix the meal, but this was out of the question for the reasons stated. She took off the price of the lamb plus my soft drink. All in all we were very disappointed and will never darken their doorstep again.

To be fair, popped in for a few drinks as it was close to our hotel, ended up spending the night
Food very nice, reasonable prices. Drinks affordable
Fellow trip advisors, well worth a visit

“Friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

We found this pub to watch the Ireland/Wales match before going on to see the England/Scotland match at Murrayfield. Although we did not eat there we enjoyed our drinks and the atmosphere so would recommend it.

“lovely welcome”

This pub is cheaper than Witherspoon. The food is lovely and reasonable in price. The staff were very welcoming. We went several times during our trip and would recommend.

“Really liked the atmosphere and the food was fine too”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

This place was in an excellent location as we needed to kill a couple of hours until our city ghost tour started, drinks were nice and it wasn't too busy and we were able to get a table. My partner wanted to return the next day for lunch which we did and he tried the Haggis and said it was yummy. I thought the food was just ok and it had a feel of a slightly upmarket Weatherspoons to it but hey, that's ok sometimes as we spent all our dosh doing sightseeing things. Their house red was scrummy so that was enough for me!
