“Good food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

Food was good. Be prepared to wait for service if you don't stick out in a crowd. Get a table near a light if you want to see what you are eating.

“The Beating Heart of Old Reekie”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2013

My wife I, along with our three children stopped in for a meal after visiting the zoo, which is situated nearby. Upon entering, we were greeted by Pat, who couldn't be any nicer. Despite the fact that it was an obviously busy day, she chatted away enthusiastically to the children while she she took us to our table. The food was delicious and no request was too much. Although a busy day, everything appeared to run extremely well, the highlight was that the manager, Duncan, was not only guiding the staff, but went out if his way to ensure we were well looked after too. Overall, a wonderful ending to a wonderful day.

“Rabbit Food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

After waiting 15 minutes to be served at a quiet bar with 3 bar staff working (mistake 1) I decided to order food (mistake 2). I opted for the healthy choice of 'pancetta salad' at £8.99 which comes with pancetta, a poached egg, croutons and a mustard salad dressing, sounded rather nice on the menu. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised...it had one form of green leaf which formed the main body, a very little amount of peppers and half a ton of very poorly cut red onion, one of the pieces was that big i took a photo! The croutons were not the croutons I was accustomed to, they were small cubes of stale bread, the poached egg looked more like a jelly fish with tentacles and as for the so called mustard dressing there was none...it was the most bland salad i have ever had, how hard can it be, honestly? It was the first thing i made in home economics in S1 'chef'! On the plus side it was the healthiest meal I have ever had! No wonder rabbits aren't fat!
And as for the service, that got a lot better from my initial wait to get a drink at the quiet bar, it only took 45 mins after we finished our food for the table to be cleared!
Might also be worth a health and safety visit to see the nick of the benches - unless you both sit down at the same time on opposite sides beware, you've been warned!
