I went to The Ritz on a work lunch and wow what an improvement on all counts. Having written a review at the end of 2012 on their consistently bad service and mediocre food, they have completely turned themselves around. The food has been revamped and the service is now exceptional. The menu isn't too different but it seems a lot fresher and there is a lot more variety. The most important thing is that the staff have had a complete re-vamp and are now extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. The decor and atmosphere are the same (and still looking a little tired), but overall ok.

I ordered the Baked Potato with Chilli Beef & Cheese @ £5.95. It was a massive portion and came with a really nice side salad and some delicious creamy coleslaw. The potato was nice, but would have been better if it was of better quality. The chilli beef was really tasty and there was plenty to go with the potato. An absolute bargain for what was on offer, and very filling. Compare to nearby Spud U Like in the Gyle Foodcourt (Chilli con carne baked potato @ £4.19, extra cheese @ £1.00 and Coleslaw salad @ £1.00 = £6.19)!!! Our waiter throughout our lunch was extremely attentive and friendly and ensure we were all happy and had enough drinks, etc. - definitely the best thing about the visit (I should have asked for his name).

The Ritz is generally a bustling bar and has a pool table and outside seating. They also do organised BBQ's during the summer months. Its in a great location for businesses in Edinburgh Park as well as people travelling near to the bypass/airport. I had avoided the place like the plague since last year but after this experience I will definitely be back there soon and more regularly both socially and with work colleagues.

We had the two courses for £10.00 and it was nice and value for money, the food came out hot, and the service was good!

Would visit again!

Met an ex-colleague here for lunch. Scampi & chips were fine. Nothing fancy, and price reasonable. Doesn't look to be suitable for formal or romantic lunches.

Staff prompt and helpful. Not a lot of atmosphere, but for a basic lunch, it works fine.

Been here a few times and always had good service, bit of a captured audience as in the middle of Edinburgh park and lots of businesses

In line with other reviewer, I have been to the Ritz on a number of occasions. Certainly not through choice but through location. This place is a goldmine in terms of location, it really needs to spruce up its act if it wants to last. What it really needs is some competition to kick it into touch. The place is filthy, carpets and furniture are very "tired". If they spent a bit of money on making it look good then it could be a really nice place to spend an evening after work. The staff couldn't care less and look like you have bothered them when you ask for something. It's a real shame as it is surrounded by offices/professional businesses and can't help think they are missing a trick. To be fair, the food is OK, especially if you have pre-ordered which we had on this occasion as it was a Christmas lunch. In summary, take your money elsewhere.
