Went for a family meal x5 people, waited 20 minutes to get a drink, then a further 10 minutes to get the remainder of the drinks order - told there was no red wine, but the table opposite were drinking red wine?!. Food came, starters were lovely, but only 4 out of the 5 main courses arrived at the same time - waitress tipped half the over-cooked and dry chips onto the table as she put the plates down. Then , a further 15 minute wait for the 5th main course to arrive. We didn't stay for dessert!

All in all, a bad experience at a place that you had to queue to get into not that long ago. Don't think we will be back.

My family had arranged to have a private 40th wedding anniversary here in the room to the side of the restaurant, the room had been set out how we wanted with balloons and decorations and a table for the cake, we had arranged for entertainment and they made sure there was enough room for her too.
Now the food, can't fault it there was lots of choice and it all looked great everyone enjoyed what they had, the service was excellent attentive without being over the top but just right they made sure that we had enough to drink and checked if we needed anything else.
Overall there was NOTHING not to like and would like to thank everyone at The Peacock inn for making it such a special day for us all.

Choose this restaurant as it close to the SMWS Vaults. Very much a local's place - mostly families and older couples. Our cab driver told us that he goes there once a year for his anniversary dinner! Solid Scottish cuisine with a focus on fish. The place was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. I had the pork bely with apples and black pudding which was great. Spouse had chicken stuffed with haggis - little dry. Would like to try the fish next time. Very affordable.
