“Great overnight stay!”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Had a disabled room which was very basic but huge! Meant we had plenty of space and a massive wet room! We paid £69 for a double room which included all the add-ons (towel, safe, tv, wifi). We had no disturbances at all and the restaurant joined served some lovely, cheap food! The best part was that the hotel was directly across from haymarket - taxi, bus and tram service right outside hotel. Princess street was a 10 min walk, murrayfield is about 20 mins. The only downside was the view from the room but didn't bother us much. Perfect for an overnight stay!

Accessible rooms are the same price as double rooms (of course) so there is a secret let out of the bag if you want or need a larger room. Most people prefer the compact sizes that we offer - its also very "green" in this day and age where energy conservation is high on peoples agenda. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope that we will see you again.

A solid performance from a budget hotel, you pay for what you get seems to apply most here as the bed and the room is all you get for the room rate, however knowing that you will need to pay for certain things in advance make it no problem and allows you to choose what you want for a reasonable extra cost. Hotel was very clean and tidy, service was great from the reception and check in and out was fast and easy. Recommend for 1 night stays on a budget but not a hotel for holiday makers.

Thanks very much for your review. I hope that we will have the pleasure of your company again quite soon. Actually quite a few guests do use the location as a holiday location. For some it suits, especially when on holiday in Edinburgh - time spent in a hotel bedroom is minimal.

My wife and I stayed here a few weeks ago for an overnight stay. Location is excellent, right outside Haymarket train station and easy access to all other parts of the city via tram or bus. The hotel is brand new so needless to say its very clean and tidy. The rooms are small but they have everything you need and great value for money. We were at the front of the building facing a busy street but there was no noise which was great. The is a large new bar next door which is very nice and cheap for food and drink. Also a very cheap breakfast (not the best but for the money was fine) Overall a very good stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Stayed for one night with my wife and thought new hotel lets give it a go. On entering the room what a disapointment the room was tiny, it was as if they just threw in a double bed into a single room with no where for your clothes ok it was only one night but living out your suitcase for a few nights could be a pain. The shower room/cubicle was tiny, if you are bigger than 5'7'' you've got you're work cut out for you.

Thanks for your views. Our rooms are compact. We tell you the room size and what's in the room so it shouldn't be a surprise when you arrive. Its part of the new concept and our brand within Edinburgh to provide something in between the traditional star rated and the basic budget. Its energy efficient to have a compact bedroom so you should feel good about contributing to a greener planet and treating your pocket to a few more pounds to spend on your break (hint - under bed storage for cases)

Excellent 2 night stay here during the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. Booked through Expedia and got the "extras" (hair dryer, tv, safe, wifi, towels, toiletries) included in stay.
The rooms were small, clean and perfect for a short stay in Edinburgh. The hotel felt very secure as you had to use your room card to access the lifts and each floor of rooms.
Hot and cold drinks and snacks were well-priced at reception, with a cheap pub/restaurant conveniently located next door (adjoined to the hotel from reception).
The location is perfect for accessing the city and further afield - a 20 second run in torrential rain to Haymarket station and right outside a busy bus stop and taxi rank.
My only criticism would be the pillows-not supportive, very thin and not very comfy.
If you want a luxurious stay go to the Waldorf on Princes Street! However if you want to spend a little and get a great stay at a lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff, go to the Tune!

Many thanks for a lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Reminder - Expedia prices include the "extras" in the price, booking direct means you don't have to pay for them all if you don't want them, otherwise price isn't an issue. You can add on all the extras booking direct, probably pay slightly less and have better terms and conditions.

Stayed here for four nights with my partner while visiting Edinburgh and would absolutely stay here again. The room was spotless, perfectly clean, as was the small bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and although the pillows were very thin, the staff were more then happy to provide us with extras. The windowsill in our room was big enough to sit on and store luggage which was great since the room is quite small. We had the comfort package with TV, internet, toiletries, hair dryer and towels. The towels were huge, which was a big plus since we're both tall. As a couple, the room was perfect, but I can see how it might feel cramped or uncomfortable if you're sharing with someone you're not as comfortable with. You can hear everything in the bathroom from the main room and the door is frosted glass. None of that bothered us though! The price was great and the location was excellent too. Lots of good places to eat close by, including the pub downstairs that had a very reasonably priced menu. You can catch a train to Waiverly right across the street for less then 3 pound per person, but most days we just walked to Princes street, which was a very nice 20 minute stroll. Absolutely would recommend it and will stay here again when we come back to Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Try to make sure when booking that your room has a window, as they do have windowless rooms.

Many thanks and hope we see you again soon. A better way of looking at it should be that you don't need to pay for them if you don't want or need them. Agreed there are not many hotels that offer this option. You pay full rates regardless of what you use.
