“Perfect location”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

I stayed here with my brother 3 nights at end of April. As other people have mentioned its absolutely perfectly located in the Old Town near to the Royal Mile, train station and loads of nice little independent shops. The rooms are very nice & modern, but a bit on small side. The beds were a little bit too firm even for my liking. There was a nice little lounge area at the entrance where you can have coffee or something stronger later.... This hotel is excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: Room 616 had lovely views over city.

I stayed in this hotel on 8 th May and i was not disappointed. You can basically see the hotel when you exit the train station, the location is super handy. The hotel was scrupulously clean and modern.Like other reviews have mentioned the communal areas are quite warm, there was only two small bottles of shower gel available in the bathroom(no soap) and there wasn't a lot of storage space but for a reasonable priced clean and safe motel right in the centre of town it really is a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if Im in Edinburgh for a night or two,and i would definitely recommend anyone else to choose this hotel. The room was decorated nicely, everything is fresh and new (it is a very new hotel)with lovely linens,I had a great sleep and the waterfall shower was great.Id probably skip breakfast if I stayed again as there are so many other places to eat nearby but I really can't fault this hotel.

Good hotel in a good location. Clean room with nice amenities. My only gripe was internet was very slow in peak times, but at least they offer free internet unlike some hotels. The only improvement I would add would be an exit on the Cockburn Street side, as can take a while to reach reception from the far end of the hotel.

This is a pretty new hotel and it shows. The location is fantastic, really handy for the train station, Prince's street, Royal Mile etc (ie. it's very central ) and the rooms are surprisingly quiet considering the location..
The rooms are nice but perhaps need a bit of tweaking, a few more sockets would be good, we only had two in our room and one of them was for German appliances! This is a German Hotel chain, but they should remember that they are in Britain, not Germany, they are good but it would be nice to have some tea & coffee making facilities in the room and perhaps the standard small fridge & a safe for valuables, also there is practically no storage available for clothes (not even a wardrobe ) and no bedside table. Bring your own toiletries, the ones supplied are not very nice, no hand soap either.
I did not like that we had to pay as soon as we checked in without even having seen the room.

Room Tip: The higher up the better.

I spent two nights in april at the Motel One in Edinburgh. When I arrived at the bus station at Waverley Station (also train station) I literally fell into Motel One. It's located between Old and New Town which I think is a perfect location for every tourist.

Motel One is a very modern and nice hotel. My room was on the 6th floor. The size of the room was ok. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The bathroom could've been a little bigger though.
When you enter the room the TV turns into a little fireplace which is a very nice idea. My bed was comfortable and clean.
The AC or whatever it was didn't work good- it was too hot in the room and I complained about it in the morning so that they could work on it while I was gone. When I got back I figured that somebody tried to make it work but it didn't ! I also read other reviews that had the same problem- good I was able to open the window.

The breakfast is served in the entrance and bar area - it looked very good but I didn't try it (ca. 7 pounds).

I really really recommend this hotel and next time I would choose it again. The location is unbeatable and the rooms are modern and clean.

We recently spent 2 nights at the motel one on market street in Edinburgh.
Firstly the location is superb!
We flew in and got the airlink bus that takes you to waverley train station as it looked like the nearest stop to the hotel. The bus stop is literally across the road from the hotel which is so convienant if you have heavy luggage and means no extra costs for taxis! (Air link bus ticket was £6 return- what a bargain!)
Market street is located parallel to prince street with the train tracks and bridge dividing it. So behind you is easy access to the royal mile, Edinburgh castle and all the lovely streets off the mile- literally a 5/10 minute walk from the hotel.
Plus access to all of the shops and amenities and your right near the other bus stops to get to things like royal Britannia at ocean terminal- worth a visit if you like anything royal!

The rooms are small and basic- onlythings supplied are 2x showergel (very small) and a hairdryer- and some very small towels and a multi channel tv.
But you don't need much else unless like me you didn't pack any shampoo with higher expectations!
But at £89 per night it wasn't too bad for a great central location. And felt very safe and clean.
Oh and the staff were very friendly ad polite! Would highly recommend! Just remember to take your own toiletries!
Oh and the wifi was free! Added bonus!

It is modern desing hotel, which is clean, the stuff is ok and is on a very good address - 3-minute walk from the railway station and 5-minute walk from the Royal Mile leading to the Edinburgh Castle.
We had a very very small room with a hole in the ceiling - cca 4 meters above our heads - instead of a window. I was really weird. The air condition was somehow broken. I could not breathe inthere. It was room no. 540.

Room Tip: Ask about the window :-)
