“Really great location, Near train and bus station”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2014

Stayed here for a 4 day meeting. The location is great for getting around. The train station is right across the street. The airport AirLink shuttle bus stops about 100 meters in front of the hotel and it's a main hub for all the buses. The department stores are on the street just down from the bus stop. If you turn right from the hotel, and right again, you are at the foot of the Mary's Close staircase that is long and steep, but goes directly up to the Royal Mile, the main Edinburgh street. But, you aren't paying the hotel rate for the Royal Mile. And, if you turn left at the top of the stairs, you come to a large Scotch whiskey store with a complete selection including airplane size for gifts. The room was modern and bathroom spotless and spacious. The bed was comfortable, but they did the folded duvet cover thing that is a bit skimpy for me. It took me a bit to figure out the thermostat. The TV was a large flat panel with ample channels in English. I really liked the bar area and the beers on tap. The bar can serve anything. I saw somebody get a mojito, with fresh mint, in Scotland?! The breakfast buffet was adequate and drip coffee was okay. They also had an espresso/cappuccino machine for extra cost. There are at least 5 pubs within 50 meters of this hotel!! Did I mention this is a really great location?

Room Tip: Rooms on the front get a great view of the valley that the trains run through and all the old buildi...

The name of the place unfortunately suggests something akin to a motorway service station's facilities, but this is most definitely not the case here. We did pay a lttle extra for a room with a city view - over Prices Street Gardens - and it was well worth it. Particularly liked the double sound-proofed windows (the last hotel we stayed in in Edinburgh was twice the price and four times the noise!) and the fact that we could leave our luggage there after checking out. Large (twin for us) beds and a neat en-suite. Only problem was the extreme shortage of power plugs, although there was a continental option no doubt as the company is German-owned.

Room Tip: Take an extension lead with four points on it!

Ok so our room only had a skylight (fortunately springtime so not that much daylight to keep me awake) but it was cosy yet stylish and the bed was comfy. Bathroom modern and uber stylish with large double shower. Nice smelling body wash provided. Kettle/tea/coffee in room and Loewe flat screen TV.
The staff were friendly....most of the guests were European ( Belgium, Germany etc) but I guess that's because the company is.
The hotel is about 2 minutes walk from the train station....down the hill from the royal mile and just over the bridge from princes street.....couldn't be better placed I would say.
Fabulous breakfast with cold meats, boiled eggs, croissants, toast, fruit, a variety of rolls....coffee from a franke machine (beats my tassimo)....wide selection of teas and yummy fruit juices. Would 100% stay there again. Loved it......

Room Tip: Not sure of tips for room but it's a maze of corridors. My room 542 didn't have a window onl...

We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff (from the bar staff to the cleaning service crew) were so attentive and kind. We had our 6-month-old son with us and trespassed on the staff's help in storing and retrieving our bottles from a staff fridge. The breakfast was not included, but was worth the price and convenience. The room was well equipped and very creative with their use of space. The wardrobe even tucked away in a nook behind the headboard space of the bed! Location could not be better as it was right smack in the middle of all the attractions. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends!

This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting Edinburgh. The room was modern with a nice bathroom which had a big walk in shower. We didn't eat in the hotel as breakfast wasn't included but there are plenty of options nearby. Definitely good value for money.

I have just spent a night at this hotel which happened to be during a rugby weekend! The hotel was full however it was very quiet and we had no problem having beakfast in the morning as the staff were continually restocking the yogurts, croissants and cold meats. The only negative thing I have to say is although we had booked a deluxe room with a historical city view we were assigned a room facing a wall to the rear!! The girl at checkin asked us if we were sure there wasn't a view from our room???? All these rooms were taken even though we had booked six months in advance however eventually after a lot of computer searching they were able to give us a disabled access room which had a great view.
Nice clean modern hotel suitable for a short stay in Edinburgh and yes we would go back. Also the location is excellent, opposite the airport express bus stop.

Motel one's location was very ideal ! All attractions were within walking distance and princes street was less than 4 minutes away .. The decoration of the lobby and bar was super nice and they were available 24/7 !! The room was good but the toilet was tiny .. Can't complain about the furniture and cleaning service cause everything was shinning ..

Negative side : no phones in the rooms, no wardrobe, no dental kits, the AC was a bit complicated and hard to manage but the room was already warmed up.

Fair price, Central location and modern rooms : highly recommended
