“Clean and new”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

You can't really beat the location of this hotel. It's 2 mins walk from the Airport bus stop and Waverley station, convenient for the old and new town and yet it is surprisingly quiet. The hotel chain is German. I hadn't heard of it before I booked. Everything in the hotel is new and really clean and the staff are very pleasant. The continental breakfast (£7.50 extra) is very good - fruit salad, fruit juice, croissants, rolls, toast, cereals, slices of cheese and cold meats, hard boiled eggs etc. The pub round the corner offers a full English (yes, English!) for I think £6.50.
On the down side, the rooms may not have been very well thought out. A kettle is provided but to plug it in I had to move the table/desk to stand it on. There are no drawers or cupboards so although you're not likely to leave anything behind, it's not ideal for a long stay. Hanging space is very limited. There are a few shelves for clothes. Also there was no bedside table which was irritating. No solid soap is provided only liquid body wash/shampoo.
Would I stay here again? I'd say possibly, but I might shop around for something a bit cheaper.

Very unsure what to rate the hotel, stuck somewhere between 3 and 4! The location is ideal and means everything is on your doorstep. The reception/bar area is also very modern and clean. The room was modern and clean also with a lovely shower. Lady who checked us in was friendly and welcoming. It is not the facilities that's the problem it is perhaps the value for money which makes me select 3 stars over 4. For over 100 pounds you do not expect a double bed to consist of two twin beds pushed together, making you almost fall through the gap at times. In addition to this there is only a continental breakfast supplied for an extra 8 pounds each. I appreciate the location raises the price but it does feel considerably overpriced for what's there. Overall, the hotel is clean, modern and very convenient. Doesn't translate into complete value for money however!

I chose this hotel by chance as I needed somewhere for an overnight due to a business trip. And what a great by chance choice that was. Although for the next 15 months there will be single duvets on the beds (a double bed has 2 x single duvets) the bed was very comfortable, the room large albeit minimalist re hanging and drawer space. Decor is really nice, everywhere very clean, the staff are very polite and helpful, breakfast was good for continental (there is a great pub for full English less than a minute away) and the bar/restaurant area also really nice. Bit thrown by the fact that the only entrance is through the bar/restaurant so will know for next time. Perfect location for Princes St, The Mound, easy access to public transport etc. Its only a couple of minutes to the airport bus stop... Looking forward to returning...

Room Tip: I was in room 326 which had the most amazing view from 5 windows... and despite being so close to th...

2 nights in this hotel. Germanys answer to Premier Inn ? So much more impressive. Ideally situated between Princes street and the Royal Mile. Only thing lacking was air conditioning (not ideal on Scotland's hottest days of the year!!) Clean modern rooms in a very old building. Lovely bathrooms. Breakfast was ok for the price. Coffee not great but acceptable. Perfectly adequate continental choice. All staff very professional and friendly. Would recommend for business and pleasure.

A second stay here. Good things include very handy location near station, pleasant room, very good shower, excellent eat-all-you-can breakfast, free Wi-Fi, welcoming staff. Quirky things include only three coat hangers for two people (and allowed only one more when extras requested), thin pillows (one per guest), room too hot, only one power point for computer or kettle - can't do both, no plug for sink so water wasted. The good things outweigh the niggles but the hotel could so easily do better by attending to the details. Are the German owners listening?

Room Tip: Make sure there is adequate ventilation but windows opening onto the street may result in too much n...

Great hotel in a fantastic location, very close to train station and within very easy walking distance of all the main attractions. The rooms are very clean and of a high standard. If there is anything to say about the hotel that is negative it would be the room was too warm. I would recommend this hotel for anyone either on business or in Edinburgh for a trip or special event.

Room Tip: If you can get a room overlooking the park you will get fantastic views. I was in room 201 and it wa...
