“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Great location. Ask for a room with a view overlooking Waverly station. Princess street - mainly for shopping - is across the road, while Market street is bustling with pubs and eating places. Once you take the bus shuttle from the airport to Waverly station, you will immediately see the hotel. If I would make one suggestion about the room, I would suggest that you take a small electrical extension as the three pin socket is uncomfortable to use as it is at the entrance and quite high from the ground. Otherwise perfect. We arrived very early around 02.00 Hrs. and the reception was eagerly prepared to make a couple of sandwiches for us and a drink at a charge of course.

Room Tip: I would ask a 4th floor room with a city view overlooking Waverly

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Opted for a single room without the view. Great value for the location - right beside Waverley Station and off the Royal Mile in a beautiful old building. Great service from check-in to check-out. Was surprised that my room was ready when I arrived at the hotel earlier than planned. The room itself was compact, but fit for purpose. Nice and modern with swish waterfall shower room/ wc. Single bed, tea making facilities and tv. I actually had one of the best sleeps I have had in a loooong while - it was lovely and quiet - not sure if thats because I opted for a room not facing the city. I didn't take breakfast as I was off early, but the bar area looking really nice - lovely big windows for people watching!

We used this hotel as our base for visiting the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The hotel is in a fantastic location for both travel connections and sightseeing. You can get to the main train station within a couple of mins and all major attractions are within walking distance. The hotel overlooks the Scott monument in Princes Gardens, the Castle/Royal Mile is a short walk behind the hotel and the National gallery is on the doorstep.

We used the tram to get from the airport, getting off at Princes street. From there it was a 5 min walk, mainly uphill to he hotel. To get back to the airport we got on the airbus which is located straight across from the hotel and opposite Edinburgh Waverley train station.

The hotel itself is very modern and stylish and I loved the fact that they have used tartan in the décor. Our room was on the 6th floor - 603. The room was an ok size, clean, had a comfortable bed and a fab walk in shower but there was no phone in the room and storage was very limited.
The view wasnt great as it looked out over a neighbouring office building. In fact, we had a window directly opposite us and we could see people sitting and working which was fine when we were out but when getting up in the morning we had to keep the curtains closed until we were dressed.

The first night we were there we discovered that there was a bar called the Devils Advocate out the back of the hotel. It is situated up a tiny street called Advocates Close (accessed by stairs from Cockburn St). The bar is great but obviously on Fri/Sat nights its very noisy and we could hear people in the street, even with the windows closed. This was not ideal as our room was really warm and we needed the fresh air! Apart from the small amount of noise on the Fri/Sat night the room was actually really quite and I wasn't aware of other hotel guests moving around. The only let down for the room was the lack of air conditioning which would have a god send as there were high temps when were there.

The other let down was breakfast. When we arrived we were told we had breakfast included but the following day when we went for breakfast, the lady checking us off on her list said there would be a charge. We tried querying it but was told we had to pay. Thus we didn't bother having breakfast in the hotel again and as we had early starts for the Commonwealth Games and we knew we wouldn't have time anyway. However when we checked out, there was no charge for the 1 day we had had breakfast which was really frustrating.

Overall we had a great stay, the location was just perfect for us in terms of our travel needs but it was also great for being able to get out and about and do some sightseeing. We would def come back here in the future.

Room Tip: If you want a view over the Scott Monument, then ask for a room at the front of the hotel.

It's location is perfect. Certainly, I felt it was hot in the hotel at the beginning (in July), but it was comfortable during night. Because I requested a quite room, my room did not face the street and the station, and it was very quiet. The bedroom was stylish and I and my little daughter loved it.

Room Tip: They have some quiet rooms, so you had better request in advance if you hate train noise. Though I d...

We stayed 2 nights at this place and the room we had was the size of a closet. There was barely room for our suitcases. The lady who checked us in was unfriendly and acted like she could care less whether we were there or not. The shower was the highlight of the room. The best part of the place was its location. I would not recommend to anyone unless there is nothing else available.

Room Tip: Check the room before you pay.

Situated across the street from Waverley Bridge (and the Airlink bus stop), this was a pretty nice hotel in the center of everything. Walking distance of the castle, Royal Mile, and the pubs on Grassmarket, as well as New Town. It is at the bottom of a hill, so I got lots of exercise going up the 100 or so steps to the Mile! I very much enjoyed my stay here.

As the title of my review suggests this hotel is excellent! We arrived in Edinburgh by train and we were pleasantly surprised that this hotel is located just a stones throw from the station! The hotels location is great to the main town centre which you can see from the entrance to the hotel and other sights like Edinburgh Castle. We stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are lovely and modern with everything you need from a TV, air con, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities. The beds are very comfy and reception are very helpful. No noise issues at night despite having a room overlooking the main road and station.

We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel as prefer to go out and look for places to eat.

Would definitely pick this hotel again if coming to Edinburgh,
