Perfect location with bus stops, restaurants etc within walking distance. Really nice and helpful staff. Clean rooms, many toilets and showers. And the pub is really good, too (and you get special offers if you say you stay at the hostel). We stayed for two nights, and everything ran smoothly. This is a great hostel, and really price worthy. I will definitely stay here again, the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Excellent hostel with the most comfortable hostel bed i have ever slept in..great location to with everything within walking distance...malones bar is downstairs which offers brilliant discounts on food and drink for anyone staying at the hostel,so definitly pop down for a few beers before you explore the town further because drinks will be more expensive elsewhere. staff were helpull and friendly both in the bar and hostel, showeres and toilets were very clean as was the kitchen...one of the better hostels i have stayed at,,,if your going to stay in a hostel in edinburgh this is it.

Room Tip: not a room tip but dont eat at the kebab place next door to the hostel it was mank

Very impressed with every aspect of this Hostel its clean modern with all the mod cons to accomodate every traveller. Its location is absolutely ideal everything touristy royal mile, castle, scotch experience is within walking distance as well as the Grassmarket for nightlife.
The bar in the hostel serves brilliant very reasonable food easily the best Ive had in any hostel. The bar is a great spot to watch any sport in and is very popular at the weekend we could have stayed there for the entire trip.
The staff are very friendly and have a great sense of humour all in all a brilliant experience

Stayed at a four bed, mixed dorm. Guys at the reception were friendly, rooms are very simple, no decoration, shared bathroom was clean. Price of 18£ seemed to be reasonable, breakfast was included.
In contrast to some other reviews the hostel didn't look very new to me. Also the saves at our room were not usable, because in all locks stuck broken keys.
If you search for a simple accommodation for one or two nights...go for it!

Malone's bar that is below the hostel is a great bar with regular live music and a good selection of drinks available. I didn't have any of the food. The hostel above was lovely... basic but conventional, and very clean. The 8 bed room I stayed in was clean and tidy with 4 bunk beds and space around for your case or rucksacks. Beds were very comfy too. It was not cramped at all. There was a nice kitchen area and the male showers and toilets were very well kept. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommended a stay here if you are on your own or with a group of friends. The price is also very reasonable. I would definitely go back.

I spent one night here as a base to spend a weekend in Edinburgh with friends. The hostel is in a great location, and was very clean. Comfortable mattresses on the beds and a good night's sleep was had by all. The kitchen was well maintained with plenty of crockery and glasses for everyone to use. Also lovely food served in the pub downstairs. Overall great value for money!
