Located in part of what was the National Trust for Scotland's old HQ building on Charlotte Square, this place is fab.
Good location, just off Princes Street.
Quirky contemporary decor in an old Georgian building.
Good quality food and a lively bar.
Excellent staff in all parts of the venue - hotel, bar and restaurant.
The layout is unconventional in that you walk through either the restaurant or the bar to get to the lift that takes you to the hotel above - it's not obvious at first but it kind of adds to the quirky feel of the place.
The accommodation was great, quality fittings in a large high ceiling room. The rooms are named after famous Scots, with a large black and white photograph of the person the room is named after adorning the main wall - ours was the 'Rod Stewart' room (I know! This should have been kitsch and naff and shouldn't have worked but it does!
We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and the quality of the food was excellent. The bar too was great - very lively and both featured friendly enthusiastic young staff. I'd visit both the restaurant and the bar as venues in their own right.
