Arrived on a Friday evening with dear friends for a leisurely August Bank holiday weekend in Edinburgh Met by a charming receptionist who checked us in quickly and efficiently. Nice modern hotel room with a bit of character, well furnished , very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast the next morning was a bit of a let down, not because of the food that was fine but i don't expect to wait 20 minutes then have to chase down a member of staff to get a cup of coffee for the table, but a minor service issue which the restaurant manager put right immediately he was aware of it 10/10 for that
Saturday evening after a day out in the city we made the mistake of going to the hotel bar, In my 59 years of staying in hotels all over the world i have never come across such a rude ignorant individual as the bar manager i think his name was Jaime. My friend had been at the bar for some time and was unable to get served The bar was busy and another customer came and stood next to my mate and the manager served him and ignored my friend, I asked him if we were invisible he said he was very busy and i asked if he realised he was serving people out of turn and his response was yes !!!!! He then decided to have an argument about it !! I am the MD of 3 companies 2 in the leisure industry, all customer service focussed My friend is the MD of a large Main Dealer in the motor industry again customer led suffice to say if this guy worked for either of us he wouldn't keep his job very long
Next morning breakfast was excellent and service couldn't be faulted, on check out the wee scottish lassy could not have been more pleasant (maybe they should appoint this young lady to retrain the ignorant bar manager) She enquired about our stay and we recited the previous evenings experience, she was aghast and it is a shame that the majority of the staff are let down by one bad apple Would we stay here again YES we would, maybe we will just avoid the bar!!

Room Tip: Get on the 4th Floor On a busy road so the higher the quieter

Dear Frankpfs,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your experience.

I am dismayed to read of your experience within our bar and would like to sincerely apologise for the level of service received. This is clearly is not the impression we would like any of guests to leave with and one for which I will investigate personally.

Although I am happy to read the rest of your stay was an enjoyable one and that you would return back to stay with us, please accept my sincere apologies and assurances that I will fully investigate your experience to ensure this remains an isolated incident.

Kind regards

This hotel was previously known as the Point Hotel. Following it's refurbishment and takeover by the Hilton Chain the rooms are 100% better than previously but the hotel retains the same friendly atmosphere generated by the excellent staff. Both the breakfast and the pre- theatre meal were excellend and in the case of the dinner very good value for money. Delicious warm cookies on arrival!

We stayed here in early November and had the loveliest time. The staff were very friendly and our room was amazing - very large and comfortable. Perhaps we were upgraded because it was off-peak season but if we were the staff didn't mention it. The hotel was still being refurbished so one of the lifts wasn't working and the heating in our room had to come from fans and an extra blanket but it really didn't matter as we were more than comfortable. The breakfast wasn't as showy as in other hiltons but the same food was available you just had to order it rather than asking the chef at the buffett. We absolutely plan on staying here again next time we visit.

Dear Ciara D,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your experience.

I am glad to read that the additional items available at breakfast via your server were appreciated however apologise that due to space and ventilation we are unable to offer this via a Chef at the buffet.

I am happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and will be staying with us again soon.

Kind regards

This hotel is very poor value for money. During the Festival it seems to assume that no-one is going to be a repeat customer. It is not a good hotel for the business traveller. You are offered a cookie on checking in and asked to conform that it is warm. The hotel management would be better focussing on the quality of the important parts of their offer.

Dear Peter M,

I am disappointed to read of your experience at the hotel and sincerely apologise that we clearly did not deliver during your stay with us.

It is always disappointing when we fall short however I hope that when our shortfalls where highlighted to the Manager on Duty that these were actioned with a suitable solution found to make up for your experience.

I appreciate your feedback and apologise again that we fell short during your stay with us.

Reserved one night in standard room with points during Festival Fringe at last minute.
Surprisingly, even as Silver HH only, upgraded to HH floor. Was Saturday night stay, so may be reason for upgrade. Seemingly only perk for this floor, other than high floor, was bottled water in room.
Room: King. Large. Lots of room. Normal windows. Nothing special with windows so room a bit on dark side. Lots of great lighting in room fixtures offset however. Bed & pillows okay. Large flat screen (didn't turn on).
Bath: Compact. Shower only. Shower good size with good water pressure. Absolutely no room for stuff in bath. No outlet for women either.
Towels: Okay. Not hotel worn, yet.
Cleanliness: Bath could be better. A few issues.
Standard: Iron/board; mini-fridge. Hair dryer was awful. If thick or long hair, you will suffer.
Kettle: In room.
Staff: All encountered, exceptionally nice & helpful.
Breakfast: (Didn't eat.) However large area off lobby with huge windows to outside.
Wifi: Free in lobby only.
Lobby: Two huge PCs for use with nice printer.
Elevators: As noted by others, slowest two ever. Except 0630 Sunday morning!
Location: From Royal mile, go toward castle. At roundabout in last block before castle, veer left onto Johnston Terrace. Follow around exterior of castle. Turns into Spittal St which ends at a T on Bread St. Right smack at the Doubletree. So super easy to walk from main train station, Waverly.
Value: For points used, good stay in nice hotel close to castle, tattoo, royal mile and Waverly train station.

Dear Dylann G,

I appreciate your time in reviewing your stay with us and detailing each aspect to allow us a great opportunity to share with the team.

It is good to read that your stay overall was an enjoyable one and that you took advantage of the hotel's location within the city.

I hope that your Edinburgh visit was a memorable one and that you took the time to see some of the many wonderful shows that the Fringe Festival affords.
