Owner description: We provide guided historical tours by a 'Real Roman', Quintus Valerius Maximus, to the Antonine Wall and Hadrian's Wall. The Antonine Wall, which was made of turf, stretched over 37 miles across lowland Scotland from the River Forth in the east to the River Clyde in the West. The Wall was built by Emperor Antoninus Pius and formed the north-west frontier of The Roman Empire from around AD 142 - 160s. Due to popular demand we have decided to expand our range of tours down to Hadrian's Wall. Hadrian's Wall was a defensive fortification in Roman Britain, begun in AD 122 during the rule of Emperor Hadrian. Hadrian's Wall extended west for 73 miles from Segedunum at Wallsend on the River Tyne, via Carlisle to the shore of the Solway Firth. We currently offer scheduled tours from April to September and a tailor-made tour option which is available all year round. We like to keep the groups small and personal and limit numbers to a maximum of six people for the full day tour and 20 for the walking tour. All tours will be conducted in English with some Latin terminology thrown in.

“A fascinating couple of hours for people of all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

This was a great tour. Not knowing a lot about the Romans or even being very into our history this was still an enjoyable day out. We learned a lot and the guide was very good at keeping us all entertained and interested. This is a very good activity for any age - the kids on our tour seemed to enjoy it as much as the adults. I'd recommend this to friends and family for something a bit different to do one weekend! Great value and time well spent!

“Roughcastle Fort - 5 July 2014”

This was a great couple of hours where we were "marched" up to the castle from the Falkirk Wheel visitor centre by our guide - fully dressed as a roman soldier. We then had an hour at the castle where he took us to various parts of the remains explaining fully what each was about.

Would definitely do another trip with them in the future.

Had a great day out - took my 8 year old who is doing Romans at school, she found it very interesting, as did I. Would recommend to all ages.
