Visiting beautiful Edinburgh with my family we booked two nights at this lodge. We could not have a bath as there was no plug lid.No shower as the shower hose was broken.Charge for breakfast which was rubbish and No central heating in Scotland!!!! The owner of the property was never about. We wanted to complain to the owner and were told that they would contact us but they never did. The lodge was very dirty to stay in and the lift did not work. They could not offer another room to us as they said the hotel was full. Overall the stay was Very Unpleasant.

Stayed here for a long weekend during the Fringe. Whilst it's a bit out of the way, there's a bus stop 15 mins up the road if you don't mind the walk. Brekkie was basic (not worth £6). Other than that it was excellent. Reception staff were lovely and helpful. Rooms were decent and clean. Oh and it's an absolute STEAL!

Where do I start?! This lodge does not have wifi, breakfast is extra, and its no where near anything! First room: toilet did not flush. Second room: no heat & hot water "might work". Third room(@11:30pm): shower iffy, toilet leaking. Oh wait not done: saw another poor visitor get stuck in the elivator until the fire crew got them out... And the fire alarm went off at 3am; it was shut off right away but with no phone in the room, my hubby had to go to the front desk to see if it was a false alarm! He was told that the desk manager muted the alarm because a "kettle" had set it off. Reccommend staying anywhere but here! Too bad everything else was booked when we arrived in Edinburgh due to kids returning to school. Awefull! Moral of the story; book your beautiful Edinburgh B&B well in advance or sleep in your car!

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of July and were pleasantly surprised. We had a private double room with ensuite bathroom. The room was a good size, as was the bathroom and perfectly clean. Good points were the comfy bed, complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Also, the view from the room was amazing. The only negative with regards to the room was the soundproofing. There was no noise from the inside of the hotel but there were caravans camping outside the back of the hotel which our room overlooked and they had dogs which barked all night and woke me up a few times. Understandably, this wasn't the hotels fault.
In addition to the dogs, the fire alarm went off both nights that we stayed there, around midnight. There wasn't much communication from the front desk staff, apart from saying that there isn't a fire, you don't need to go outside which as far as I'm concerned isn't a very safe or acceptable procedure to follow.
The location is around a 10-15 minute drive from the city centre, which I found perfectly manageable given the fact that I had a car. Don't know how convenient it would be if you were relying on public transport or taxis.
I would stay here again when visiting Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, overlooking the Firth of Forth. The views are amazing.

One of the worst places we have ever stayed in,should have realised when we booked in that things were wrong,we had requested a room with a seaview (booked weeks in advance) told they were all taken up ended up with a view of the trees at the side of the building !!,thought we had paid for bed and breakfast only to find it was at an extra cost !!,place looks rather the worse for wear and the lift nearest the room was not working,we were on the top (second) floor !!,room was tidy but we had to ask for a kettle, there were cups with coffee and tea but nothing to make the water hot,not that was needed as you only have to turn on the cold tap to get boiling water !! We did complain about this but nothing was done while we were there .We even asked for a bulb to be replaced above the vanity mirror, another job that wasnt done.
We are not snobs but I have stayed in cleaner , better presented hostels than this place , definietly would not recommend this to anyone. The soap holders in the bathroom were digusting, looked like they hadnt been cleaned in ages .
On the plus side it is fairly well sited for a stay in Edinburgh and surrouning area , go round the back for a lovely view of the Forth, with a pleasant walk along the promenade to Cranton Island (make sure you check the tidal times),were you can glimpse the top of both road and rail bridges.Walking the other way takes you towards the harbour.
Wish we had read the reviews about this place first and the staff had sorted out the things out first.

Room Tip: Best rooms are at the back of the property overlooking the Firth Of Forth.
