“Great Value in a Central Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2012

I stayed in this hotel for four nights in mid-July. We were very pleased with this hotel, and booked it for its close proximity to the train station and based on the good reviews of other travelers on TripAdvisor. The location is very good; it is a quick walk from the train station up Leith Street to the hotel, even with luggage. There were a number of restaurants and pubs right nearby, and the location made it very easy to walk to all the major things to do in the city within 5-10 minutes.

Our room was a standard size, and had a double bed, couch, and desk. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We had a room in the back of the hotel (away from the street noise), facing down towards Leith and the water. The breakfast was included with our room and had cereals, breads and croissants, eggs, juices and coffee/tea and alternated sausages and bacon each day. A basic breakfast, but certainly enough to get you started for the day! There was also free WiFi, which worked well the whole time we were there.

Overall, we had a great stay at this hotel. It was a great value, especially considering the great central location!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during when in Edinburgh for a theatre trip, the location could not be better it is literally across the road from the Playhouse, and 10 minutes walk from Waverley station.
I must say that I had reservations about traffic noise given the location but they were groundless as i had the best nights sleep ever in a hotel.
The staff were all very helpful and given how bust the hotel was the bufett breakfast was well filled.

we travelled as a couple for a weekend break for 2 nights starting 13/01/12, when we arrived check in was fast and we were offered a complimentary late check out which was great. the hotel itself is in a great location surrounded by bars and places to eat directly opposite the playhouse. it is only a short 5/10 minute steady walk back to princes street and the centre of edinburgh. very clean hotel and nice bar for a night cap on your way to bed, breakfast is very good with a wide choice of things availiable, would recommend to anyone.

A lovely hotel in an ideal location. Across the street from the playhouse theatre and a nice distance to walk to princess street though up a hill. Plenty of restraints near by in themomnimcentre. Staff were friendly the room was clean and spacious. Ask for a room at the rear the road outside is a main road and very busy. Breakfast was nice a buffet nothing fancy but hot and filling. The breakfast room is small though.

The hotel is located at the end of Princes Street and is perfect for being close to all shops in the main Edinburgh area.
We decided to drive up from Sheffield whilst our freinds were travelling by train, the station being about a 7 min walk to the hotel. The hotel has very limited parking at the rear of the property but is secure and covered by CCTV, we were lucky to get one of the ten parking spaces and these are charged at a very reasonable £10 per night. There are however lots of multi storey parking very close by, but would think it would be more expensive per day.

We were staying at the hotel for the New Years Eve festivities, we did not eat in the hotel exept for breakfast which was included in the price, breakfast is a self serve style and ranges from typical continental style and also offers cooked sausages, baked beans and scrambled egg.

The rooms were modern in style, as you would expect, and very clean and well equipped, tea and coffee, hair dryer, free view TV, and free WI.FI
Clean basic bathroom with shower unit.

All in all we were very pleased with the hotel and would defiantly use it again upon our return to Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Book early if going to Edinburgh for one of the festivals as double rooms get taken quickly

Had a fantastic weekend break at this hotel. Was everything we could have hoped for for an enjoyable stay. Rooms were good size and very clean, very quiet too, we were not disturbed at all. Location was great for where we wanted to go. Reception was very friendly and welcoming, and were happy to assist us with directions and best means of transport etc.
Highly recomended, and one of the best Holiday Inn hotels i have stayed in!
