“Overnight stay - let down by breakfast”
Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed overnight on 11 April 2014. Room 9/10, told on arrival that we would get one of the better room as we are IHG members - I would worry if I was not. Room was ok. Big enough for us. Shower head would not move, very clean and roomy. Breakfast was poor 5/10 - eggs were warm not hot, sausage was not fresh, very small area for the entire hotel. Overall, a good one night stay, very clean and comfortable.

Can't complain about the location, so handy for everything! Breakfast was delicious although you need to avoid leaving it too late as they wind down fairly quickly to avoid wastage which is understandable.

I accidentally left behind a new white shirt in the room when I checked out. When I realised the next morning I contacted the hotel but apparently nothing was found in the room. I find that hard to believe because it wasn't exactly camouflaged and was left out ready to pack away. I acknowledge my error in the dash to check out on time but surely all items left behind should have been taken to reception immediately instead of simply 'disappearing'. I've stayed at many hotels and the few times we've forgotten to pack something on leaving, the hotel has retrieved it and forwarded it on. Disappointed that it's vanished, my advice is double and triple check your room for your items or you won't see them again.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your review on Trip Advisor.

I was disappointed to read about your experience whilst staying at our hotel in Edinburgh. With regards to your
shirt, we deal with a lot of guests’ lost property of which many items are returned to their owners. I apologise that we were
unable to return your shirt to you on this occasion. I have double checked with housekeeping and I have also asked the laundry to check in case it went with the hotels stock with it being a white garment.

Thank you again for your review.

Superb location with fresh, clean good sized rooms.
Breakfast selection good and substantial. Member of staff on reception when checking in not overly friendly and a bit robotic but wouldn't put me off
booking again, in fact already done so.

Great hotel and free breakfast!! Good for sightseeing ,central location, friendly staff. Room very clean, and average size for 3 ( with double bed and double sofa bed ). The night club across the street was busy till after 3am, but not too noisy ( we were on the 4 th floor)!! All in all great value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the rear if the hotel ( cuts down on street noise)

This is a well located City Centre Hotel, convenient for the Centre and a large number of attractions. Close to the theatre and on main bus routes. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with adequate storage for a few days stay. The front access is by a number of steps which are not easy to manage when elderly and infirm. there is a rear access but not handy for persons arriving by Taxi or bus. the facilities provided are less than adequate when the place is full, something of a bear garden. that aside, all staff were helpful and polite,
Would we stay again. Certainly

Room Tip: Those on the from could be noisy.

I stayed at this hotel with four other family members on a recent trip to Edinburgh.

We had flown in to Edinburgh directly from South Africa and upon arrival, we were allowed to check in earlier than the stated 2 PM.

The hotel is within walking distance to Princess Street and Waverley Station. There are also a few restaurants situated directly across the street from the hotel.

We found the hotel to be clean and neat. We were also happy with the variety of food available at breakfast.

The staff members were friendly and helpful.

We would definitely use this hotel again.

Booked in for a couple of days and chose due to location, which is good. It's what you get with HIE, room enough to swing a cat but no more. The front desk staff were great and assisted us with a couple of requests, not a problem. The place just isn't up to the standards of nearby indigo (couldn't get in with pts) but costs the same # of pts. Use Indigo if you can.
