Neighbourhood: West End
Description: From walls of Crystal Head Vodka to a showcase of Armand de Brignac Champagne and a great Gin selection, The Priory is out to impress with it's eclectic range of premium spirits, cocktails and locally sourced food. A far cry from the days of the old Cubanorte, the stylish bar and kitchen is a classy addition to Morrison Street and a happy medium between a neighbourhood local and George Street style venue. The food keeps standards high with everything from seafood - try the Hollyrood IPA Beer battered Haddock - to homemade Steak burgers.

This place has just reopened under new management. We popped in for a quick drink after an amazing dinner at atelier restaurant opposite, and ended up staying for a few more due great service, atmosphere and cocktails/beers!

“Local beers, great service and atmosphere”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

We nipped onto the Priory for a quick pint after a passable meal at the Atelier across the street. My husband was excited to see an enormous selection of beer glasses at the bar, and we definitely weren't disappointed. Service was fantastic, made the extra effort for us even though it was very near closing. Lovely cheese board, and was really good to see a good selection of local beers. Right near Haymarket too. The new management are on the right track.

“Excellent food, drinks ad service”

Could not have been happier to have stopped in on a recent trip to Edinburgh. Great food and drinks, great prices and Ryan was an incredible host behind the bar. Could not recommend highly enough!

“Good prices -great food”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

This restaurant is under new ownership, just a week or two. We were both surprised and impressed with the quality of the choices on a currently quite limited menu. The fish and chips, had by two of us, was unquestionably the best we have had on this trip (10 days so far) and a bargain at 9 pounds. A very gourmet chicken breast with a leek cream sauce, and a flat iron steak at 13 pounds, were both big hits. We even had the sticky toffee pudding, perfectly done- and a lovely vanilla cheesecake.
Our lovely and accommodating ( turned down the music ) waitress was from Canada, and she added greatly to our enjoyment. The restaurant has a lovely decor, and we hope it is a big success.

“A real 'find'”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

I found this place by accident and I'm very pleased I did. An outstanding selection of gins and vodkas (some I'd never heard of), the best selection of vermouths I've seen for a long time as well as some fine rums and other goodies. Could do with a few more whiskies and tequilas but now I'm being picky. Wines are limited but good and I'm told more draught beers are on the way. Simple menu with good food. This place is a great 'find' and I hope it does well.
