Stopped by this cafe for a snack while visiting Edinburgh Castle. The hall is lovely, the view superb. I'm pretty impressed with the range of food and drinks, vegan and gluten free cakes are standard and cappuccino with soya milk was no problem. But as a family of three stopping for light refreshment £17 was pretty steep.

Ate here during a visit to Edinburgh Castle. Nice location and great views from the cafe but that is about it. Food was okay but left a bitter taste with the prices they charge. £9 for a slice of pizza and £7.50 for a sandwich. Hate it when places like these rip people off, especially tourists. No need to be charging prices like this for what was average food. If you are going to be charging these prices then at least make the food worth it. Will be going back to the castle but will avoid this place next time.

While visiting the castle, we stopped in to have lunch/afternoon tea. Staff were very pleasant and the quality of the food was very good. As expected, prices were on the high side (being right in the heart of the castle, this is not unexpected), but did not feel unreasonable.

We sat in the restaurant building proper, but there was a covered courtyard available as well which provided a lovely alternative for seating.

Tasteless soup, dry bread, baguettes so dense you could fire then from the cannons. All the cakes were uncovered too. Worst of all-£7.50 for a baguette with "sides". Dreadful!
If you want nice sandwiches, eat first or bring your own!

The cakes and drinks are ok, it is nice if you want to have something quick while in the castle or enjoy in the tables outside when the weather is good.
The mugs need to be renewed, they look old and dirty and can be a bit disgusting...
