“The Georgian House is worth the detour”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We were adamant that we visit this house as it really was the reflection of Georgian life, considered to be the "modern" life. The Georgian house was built with new levels of modernity which the average Scots could only dream of. So this beautiful and rich house laid it out for us in a vivid way, and each room had a live guide who is well versed in every aspect of the museum's details. Fascinating visit to the kitchen downstairs, shows how far we have come, yet how far they thought they had arrived!
You'll understand edinburgh's history much better after this visit.

“Charlotte Square a beautiful park surrounded by amazing Georgian Architecture.”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

In the center of Charlotte Square is a beautiful small park surrounded by amazing Georgian buildings. It is as if you have traveled through time. The sculpture of Prince Albert mounted on a horse is attractive. In order to enjoy the Square you need to ride around it first, then get out and walk. Each building is rich in history the architecture is fantastic. For a student of architecture it is a dream come true. For a history buff, you would like to know who designed and built the structures and who were they built for ? For a film buff, you could definitely do period films with great detail. Peeking in the building you can see amazing chandeliers. This a special place to relax, enjoy people strolling and reflect on some amazing times.

“An expansive park is at the center of this last Georgian square to be completed in New Town”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

The park itself was relatively bare when we visited, but the Georgian homes and bulidings that surround the square give it an old New Town feel.

“Perfect for a picnic lunch in the sun or the book festival”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

A great green area in the centre of town that is great to spend your lunch break at especially if the sun is shining.

It is also a great place to visit when the book festival is being held. Many renowned authors give talks and multiple stalls sell books and host events to encourage people of all ages to pick up and book and stick with it to the end. Definitely worth a trip although most author events are ticketed and tickets go fast.

“Great architecture, pshame about the residents”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

A beautiful square, fine example of Edinburgh at its best.....just a shame it has to house Alex Salmond.

Living in Edinburgh I deliberately make a detour to include this walk into my route somewhere.
