Lovely boutique restaurant tucked away on Cockburn Street, just off the Royal Mile.

The cuisine was delicious and having a Mediterranean style menu provided a greater variety to choose from.

Bring your own bottle was also not an issue as there's an off licence shop across the road with a good selection of reasonably priced wines.

Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon!

Our son picked this bistro for four of us to eat. It was cosy, welcoming and informal: a bistro rather than a restaurant. The menu looked a little costly, but we ordered and were not disappointed. The food is authentic, well presented and delicious. Service was good, friendly and attentive. They do not sell alcohol, but suggested a shop across the road, which offers a 10% discount for Laila's customers. There is no corkage charge, but 30p is charged per bottle for recycling. We were very happy and will go again.

I was attracted by the light blue exterior and the calligraphy. Happy to have followed that attraction. Food tasted home-made, staff very professional, polite and helpful... They changed my plate because it had some sauce I didn't want without me even asking for it... Will make sure to go back before I leave Edinburgh.

Found Laila's by chance and am really glad we did. It's a small, lebanese restaurant just off the Royal Mile. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Good choice of dishes, especially if you're vegetarian. Food was great, really fresh and tasty. It's a bring your own restaurant as it doesn't sell alcohol. We ended up eating here twice and both times were equally as good. I'd definitely come back. A really nice touch is the discretionary £2 donation which can be added to your bill. There's information about this on the table and the staff talk to you about it before presenting the bill. Great idea

It's a lovely little place with slightly slow service (we had to remind them twice that we hand't received ordered items). Food is really good even if rather overpriced. After receiving the billl we discovered there was 2pound "charity" added to it. You can opt out but it's authomatically added to your bill so if you don't look you're gonna pay extra 2pounds for whatever charity they're supporting.

Regarding your comments on our charity work. There are large table talkers on every table in the restaurant with the details of our work. You also receive a business card in with your bill, and are given the option at the time of being presented the bill to donate or not, by the staff.

As stated on the table talker and business card, this is a discretionary donation. If you would like to receive your £2 back, then please do let us know and we are more than happy to keep this behind the bar for you to pick up at your convenience.

If you'd like to know more about our charity, please head over to our Facebook page Friends of Arbat to see the incredible work we manage to do for the 2,000 Syrian refuges who are incarcerated in the UNHCR camp in Erbil, Northern Iraq. With our generous customer support we manage to provide a lunch to every single school child. Previously, they had nothing to eat from morning until night. In the 3 months we have been providing them with lunch, the rates of attendance have gone up, and illness has been reduced.

We run the charity ourselves, with no middle men, no fees, we take frequent trips to the camp to personally help distribute food, clothes and vital medicines, which you can see from our photos.

I hope this puts your concerns to rest, but as I said, if you feel you have been cheated out of your £2, we'd be more than happy to return this to you.
