My wife and I found Laila's as we looked for somewhere to eat before a Fringe show - what a truly, excellent find! Just off the Royal Mile it's perfect if you want a well-cooked meal. It's a little pricier than nearby pub options, but, worth it, as the meals are freshly prepared. My wife had lamb chops (see the pic) and I had meatballs. Hers was 16.50, mine 13.50. These were not small meals and both were of a very high standard. The chops had clearly rested in a zesty, tangy sauce for some time, and were delicious beyond words. The meatballs similarly were 100% beef and a sauce of zesty tomato. We ate too much for pudding, but I'm sure those were fine too. Try this place if you enjoy Mediterranean/North African food, you won't be disappointed.

Came across this restaurant by chance and it was just what was needed. Lovely well-spiced food and good service in an interesting street down from the crowded Royal Mile.

Yes everyone has different expectations and experience needs when dinning out - however have to say how disappointing the experience had last evening was - slow service, had to ask to to be served / place an order, served un-chilled drinks... then when food came rice was served on its own, way before main which was swimming in oil and bland... so rice went cold, which was simply reheated and served again! in fact, sad to say it was all very underwhelming and spoilt what was a great day in the city!

We had to ask for the bill four times and then for someone to take payment twice and the second time they wee rude. Felt like we were trying really hard to pay and they didn’t really want it. Good ok but service just rubbish

After a long day of shopping, my friend and I decided to try something a little different. We were rewarded with savoury delights from Laila's Bistro. Our waitress was a lovely student from Hungary. She was very helpful and friendly. If you love food with a Mediterranean flair, I highly recommend a visit this tasty little bistro just off The Royal Mile. The saffron/cardamom ice cream is also a taste bud pleaser! An extra bonus? Go if you love olives. The olive side is wonderfully generous!
