“Good budget hotel and a good choice for the disabled”
Reviewed 19 November 2009

I have walking difficulties so have to research hard into a hotel to see if it is suitable and I found this to score well on most points. For example I could book a disabled room which came with an adapted bathroom and which was quite spacious. Reception staff were polite and helpful towards my needs and asked if I would need special assistance in the instance of a fire.
All amenities were nearby and there was a tesco and superdrug to stock up on essentials. The only slight problem we had was that the room was a touch cool but we informed reception and this was rectified quickly.

stayed for couple of nights at this hotel between 4/5th Nov, the location is great only 5 mins from grassmarket with all its great bars and restaurants i can recommend the mussel & steak bar to eat fab service and excellent food they do a lunch time special 3 courses for £11 excellent value. The royal mile is a few mins further. along with all the other attractions. The service at the hotel is excellent the staff were very friendly and nothin too much trouble. The rooms are very large and so was the bed,and comfy had a great nights sleep but that could have been all the fresh air & walking. We did have a meal in the hotel and it was lovely (we had steak cooked just as we requested) and we had the cooked breakfast which was very nice. we will return again to this hotel as could not fault anything great service, great location ,excellent value...well done premier inn.

Visited Edinburgh for a weekend in September and got a great deal on the hotel through the Premier Inn website paying less for 2 nights than the usual price for 1 night. The room was a disabled room so was spacious and modern. The all you can eat breakfast was good value and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, probably the best service we have had at any hotel in the UK! Could probably have done with better arrangements for parking. There is discount available on the nearby public car park, however on the Sunday when we left the kiosk was closed and we had to pay full price.

Another good value couple of nights at Premier Inn. clean, large room, although the windows offered no real soundproofing. Luckily you are a good 15 minute walk from the center of Edinburgh. The only disturbance we got was with a stag do rolling in early one morning - but that's hardly the hotel's fault.
Breakfast was fine, and staff freindly. that's all you can ask for really in a budget hotel. Shower nice and hot, bathroom clean. Sky TV in room.
Like I said earlier, would not suit elderly who may wish to be closer to the town. But for us young bucks, it was fine!!

The hotel is well located and you can walk top pretty much any where in the city. The room was nice and clean, but the bathroom fan was very noisy.
We paid a family room but weer given a standard room and the staff pretended there was no bigger room. However when leaving we saw that there werer other rooms much bigger.
Other than that it's a nice hotel.

Thanks for you review.
It is good to hear that you had a nice stay with us.
We are in a great location for getting around the City Centre.
It is disappointing that you were not entirely happy with your room. All the rooms in our hotel are the same price and we have a variety of rooms sizes depending on the number of guests that are staying.
Overall we are glad that you had an enjoyable time, and hope to welcome you back in the future.

We chose Premier Inn in Edinburgh, having had a good experience in Poole, Dorset and found the same quality of accommodation, food etc here. I guess you would expect that with a chain, but what particularly impressed us was the friendliness of the staff in both places - different people, but a 5 star customer service attitude each time. Had great recommendations for restaurants from the front desk and every member of staff was cheerful and friendly, whether serving in the restaurant or cleaning the rooms. The rooms are small but very clean and definitely adequate for a couple of nights stay. Only down side was the location of the room both times - too noisy to have the window open at night, which we always prefer to air conditioning. In both Inns, I would recommend asking for a quiet room. Also, had to pay for parking unless you could find somewhere after hours in the neighbouring streets. Would definitely use this chain of hotels again when travelling in the UK.

We stayed here in a group for the Gathering so every Hotel in Edinburgh was busy as was this one. It seemed to me that this was the first weekend of a complete new set of staff. All charming and polite, but service was dismal. Waited for an hour for our cooked breakfast on the first morning, other mornings were much better. But the breakfast system was a lot of getting up and down as there was so little on the tables, not very restful start to the day. The bar staff of one was unable to keep up with the number of customers. At one point a second member of staff appeared and decided on seeing all these customers waiting to be served that something need checking in the (closed) kitchen.
The evening food was a great disappointment, bland, unadventurous and straight out of the freezer via the microwave.
The lifts were are joke frequently breaking down and even when working could not always reach the top (5th) floor. It is not the most peaceful of locations with the Fire Station next door and the Royal Infirmary just up the road. The Emergency services can give you an early morning call even through tightly shut double glazed windows.
