To be fair it was perfect for our stag party and the receptionist was really friendly and helpful. Ideally located for all the bars and only 15 mins from airport. We shared a room suitable for 6 and despite the bathroom not being great you could tell that the current management is working hard to put things right and sure this will come. Would recommend to stags or groups not so much for couples. Thanks to the management for a great weekend

The hostel was bought by new management only the day before we arrived. First thing they did was get all new beds, mattresses, duvets and pillows. They put in some amount of work in the two days we were there and turned the place right around (going on the previous reviews). The staff are great, very approachable and up for the craic. The rooms were grand (of course they were, we had brand new beds... so new we even helped stripping the plastic off them).
The location is great too, less then a minute walk to Princess street, there is a Morrisons down the street and a bus stops outside too, including the airport bus.
Seven of us went to Edinburgh for the weekend and had a great time. The hostel only made it better, with the usual hot showers, free wifi, free breakfast, no curfew and the soundest staff you could find. Talking to them, they plan a lot more renovations to make it better.
If we do go back to Edinburgh I will most definitely consider this Hostel!
Shout out from the Irish lads.

First things first, this hostel is UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT rendering every review before this one OBSOLETE!

Six friends and I stayed here over the weekend. Easy to find (the sign outside now has the actual name on it), clean, new mattresses and bedding, sturdy metal frame bunk beds and a hot shower. But what really set this hostel apart for us were the staff. They were friendly, helpful, and answered our questions efficiently, we were that impressed with them we offered to help take a delivery of new beds and mattresses to the top rooms. All this whilst they were clearly very busy trying to sort things out having only taken the reigns this week.

To you guys, we all appreciated you having us, and should we be in Edinburgh in the future we will definitely be back to see you! We really hope it works out for you. Top lasses!

To anyone else reading, please please please let this review be the one you read and take note of... You can do it buddy!

Some impressions:
- screws coming out the unstable bunk beds (some of us ripped their clothes and skin!)
- dirty unchanged beds, staff didn't help, even after asking them twice for fresh beddings
- staff just came into the locked rooms to check if there were free beds during the night
- too less bathrooms on the floor, dirty and broken facilities
- loud and messy rooms
- lockers without keys
- untrained, unfriendly staff, no help with complaints
- 100€ p.p. and night in a 10-bedroom (Hogmanay time)

Nothing can be worth staying there. The only good thing is the location, but if you can avoid it don't go!! We had to book it because it was the last available room over the Hogmanay festival in Edinburgh. 100€ p.p and night for the worst experience. I'd rather spent my night sitting in a McDonalds.

Bed was really uncomfortable, old mattress where you can feel the springs jabbing your bones.

Free tea and coffee and breakfast. I rate this hostel to be decent because I stayed during off peak where there were only 2 people in 6 bed room- any more than that can get very claustrophobic and uncomfortable

After 6 hours of travelling, we finally arrived at the hostels. I had booked for the three people and i had enough paperwork to show that i booked for three people, but the girl at the desk told me that i booked for 4 people... and that i MAY have to pay for the extra person if the price went up!!

2. Rooms very small

3. We had an ensuite to our 6 bed-room. Flushing was horrible. I had to flush around 5 times just to get everything down. and make sure to NEVER EVER touch the shower curtain, instead of white it was brown!

4. Toilet seat was all ripped up!

5. Beds are uncomfortable and were falling apart. I was terrified that the bed above me would fall at any point during the night.

6. Didn't like a particular member of the staff. He just came in and out of our room any time he wanted. He actually came one morning and took a shower!! furthermore, we asked for the lockers, and he told us that all the keys were lost. Instead you just use a screw driver for which he greatly demonstrated it to us!

7. keys only worked for a day. every morning we had to go down to the reception just to get them coded again.
