“Lovely place, very friendly & clean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

We had a lovely stay here.

It is run by a very friendly couple. Our room was fantastic and clean with a hug bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and the building is beautiful too.

Highly recommend this place to others.

We stayed in Adria House for two nights and found the room spacious, clean, quiet and beautifully decorated. The receptionist was professional and attentive when we arrived early and I found our host, Edward, charming and easy to talk to. The location of Adria House is quite close to the town centre and the area quiet with stunning architecture along the Royal Terrace. The breakfast was very good but sadly filter coffee wasn't available (only instant) nor a wider range of teas. Overall a fantastic B&B and would highly recommend it.

We spend 4 nights in a spacious room en suite (shower in tub). This beautifully and authentically restored hotel is in a quiet and quite lovely neighbourhood about a mile from the Royal Mile, which is easy to walk to. The hostess, Maria (?) was very friendly, always helpful and quietly professional. Each morning we were treated to a full menu breakfast, which was always fresh, well prepared and satisfying. We thought this was a great value for the price and highly recommend it for those who love good B & Bs. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you cannot do stairs, choose a ground floor room.

stayed here for one night with my friend from Holland..we love staying here every time we are in Edinburgh..location is fantastic, not far from the playhouse, princes street and all the attractions nearby.it also sits at the bottom of calton hill.rooms are a very good size and the breakfast is delicious..always a very welcome and the hosts are so gracious..look forward to our next visit

Room Tip: if you like peace and quiet..get a room at the back not that it"s terribly noisy anyway

My husband and I just spent 3 days at the Adria House; we were very pleased and would recommend it to others without hesitation. The location is excellent; walking distance to city center as well as to bus stops and train station. The Scottish breakfast every morning was delicious and very filling. After this breakfast we could walk all day touring the city and with just a little snack mid day make it until dinner time. Edward and Maria were both very gracious hosts; they had very good suggestions and advice about things to do and the best way to get there. My one and only suggestion would be to improve water pressure in the shower. Just as others have mentioned, we found everything to be immaculately clean. This was our first visit to Edinburgh but hopefully not our last; when we come back we will choose The Adria House again!

Me my wife and 2 year old son spent 3 nights at as Adria House. Our first stay there.

Couldnt have picked a better location to explore Edinburgh. In a quite part of town yet less than 20 minutes walk into centre/Princess Street and half an hour from the castle / royal mile plus other attractions (except Royal Britannia and Zoo which are probably a little too far to walk). It is also close to the St James Shopping Centre and pubs and restaurants if you dont fancy venturing into town centre.

Eddie and (sorry I forget the name of the lady) were extremely helpful in accomodating me and my family, including warming milk in the evening for our son. Breakfast was excellent (including the Scottish porridge) and plentiful.

Family room (room 3) was massive with a nice view of the back garden, double and single bed, sofa, tv and ensuite bathroom. A minor suggestion i have is that the fixed shower needs to be upgraded both in terms of pressure and also so that it can be detached. Our son also enjoyed playing on the piano in the reception and tv room downstairs.

Eddie was very helpful in terms of suggesting things to see and do and also gave us a discount voucher for Royal Britannia. They were also very helpful in storing our luggage after we checked out and went to see the castle on the last day.

All in all the place has a grand yet relaxed ambience and it set us up very well for a very enjoyable short family break. We will definitely stay there (if there are rooms available) next time we visit Edinburgh.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 which is great for a small family

I have been staying in the Adria on my visits to Edinburgh for over 20 years. It is a great place. Very convenient for the railway station and for Princes Street; comfortable rooms and friendly people running it. Long may it continue.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back a bit quieter with view out to garden and Carlton Hill; although at the front you...
