“Best Breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

The best breakfast to date on our travels. Fresh and tasty, bacon and eggs including a sample of haggis! and the Scottish salmon muffin - mmm delightful. Accommodation fantastic - large room for the three of us with big windows! We were in Macgregor room. A very nice surprise after London accommodation..Hosts were welcoming and helpful, booking taxis, packed breakfast etc., highly recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. The guest house is situated in the Arthur's Seat area about 25 minutes walk away from the city centre, but there is a bus stop right outside and the bus is about a 5 to 10 minute journey. We were staying a top floor bedroom overlooking the garden. It was very quiet. The room was quite big and contained a lounge area with sofa. The bedroom had modern decor, but looked slightly tired and could have done with slight finishing off in places. The room was very clean and well equipt. There was a good choice for breakfast, which you ordered the night before. The guesthouse owner was really friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. She showed interest in what you were doing throughout your stay, and offered any advice where she could. There were parking for 3 cars. We would recommend this place and would return again in staying in Edinburgh.

We really enjoyed our stay at Clan Walker guest house, we had the Mackenzie room, it was cosy, comfortable and had the best view of Authors Seat. The only bother was the noise coming from the main road, my partner slept just fine but I found it difficult (my fault for forgetting my ear plugs!). The bathroom was lovely too and our room was cleaned everyday, which was more than we could ask for.The hostess couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! Breakfast was very really filling and catered for well, it kept us going through out the day! The location it'self was perfect, you could have walked to town but we chose to use the bus which is located outside the guest house, it took less than 10 mins to get into the centre by bus. There is also a lovely little pub just a way up the road named the Salisbury Arms, it's not typical pub prices but the food is great quality and the service excellent. All in all we had a fantastic stay here at Clan Walker and it was great value for money especially with the location!

Thank you

Kirsty & Billy

Room Tip: Try to book one of the bigger rooms and avoid being at the front of the house :)

We stayed here on the 12th April for 2 nights. The owners were very welcoming and accommodating and let us check in 2 hours early as the room was ready. We stayed in the Mackenzie room which was slightly on the small side as the double bed was pushed right up against the wall which wasn't an issue for us but ideally it's nice to be able to get round both sides easily. The view from the room was lovely, looking out towards Arthur's seat. The bathroom was spotless with a very large shower.
Breakfast was very nice, we had the full Scottish breakfast each morning .
The location is excellent and you can walk straight to princes street in about 30 minutes alternatively the bus stop is just outside the guest house.
Overall, this offers very good value for money in a great location. If your looking for a more boutique luxury feel though it's probably not for you.
Would definitely stay again.

Booked this guest house for our girly weekend away. All rooms were very clean and roomy with plenty of complimentry bits. There was lots of choice for breakfast freshly cooked to order and accomodating our dietry needs. The owners were very helpful with booking taxis or tables at resturants. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, they even make us all a packed breakfast when we had to be out early for coach day trip. Easily found from city centre with bus stops outside if you did not fancy the mile and a half walk. Very comfortable beds. Bathrooms seemed to have been refurbished and were very nice. Excellent value for money.

A lovely warm welcome from the owner, the room was lovely & facilities with in the room - perfect! Breakfast kept us going all day , highly recommend the full Scottish :-) Bus stop right outside the door, if you don't want to walk into the centre. Great pub along the road, that does a great meal. Overall, highly recommend. If your feeling like a work out, check out the commonwealth pool 5 minutes from Clan Walker

Room Tip: We had the superior room, 4 poster bed!
