My mother and I stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast this past July. Our room was spacious, clean and well-appointed. Our room had all the amenities and then some (free wifi that worked without a hitch, tea, tv, clean and comfortable beds. We had our own bathroom which included fancy shampoos and soaps. The hosts were genuinely friendly, efficient, helpful, but not obtrusive. Breakfast was served on time with a wide selection of choices. The house is located on a quiet street, just steps away from the bus. It's an easy bus ride to the Royal Mile, but we decided to walk (about 25 minutes). I would definitely stay here again!

This BB is an old Victorian house (with many original features combined with tasteful modern ones) close to the centre of Edinburgh (5 mins drive). They also have a lovely garden (and some parking) and our groundfloor twin had a little private patio. The couple who own the house are really friendly and they cook a nice selection of breakfasts. Why pay more for a characterless city centre hotel?

Jim and Olive are wonderful hosts, and their home is beautiful and convenient. We stayed in the Rankin room, and the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was huge. Everything was very clean and well kept. We stayed three nights and awoke to delicious breakfasts each morning. The stay was fantastic, and the personality and humor of the owners just added to the experience.

Jim and Olive were excellent hosts. They were a great source of information on area attractions and tours. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom (which is unusual for most B&B's). The breakfast was great! They ask you to fill out a little slip the night before to let them know what you'd like for breakfast the next day and how you'd like it cooked. I thought this was a nice touch. The location is in Dalkeith Road area which on the edge of town, but the bus stop is just steps away. It is about 5 - 10 minute bus ride to the city center. There are several restaurants and pubs within walking distance. During a two week trip in the UK and Ireland, this was the nicest place I stayed. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Room Tip: If you need to do laundry, they can arrange to have your clothes picked up, and dropped off the next...

We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint B&B. Jim and Olive were so nice and made us feel welcome! The house itself is really charming and has lots of character. We stayed in the Stevenson and Burns room and really enjoyed it. Everything was very comfortable and the bathrooms were nice and big! The breakfast was of course very yummy. The house was located just a pinch on the edge of town but easy access to the Royal Mile. The internet access didn't work but that didn't bother us much. We would by far return!

What a wonderful B and B for our first time to Scotland. Friends had recommended Ard-na-said for our stay. We ended up staying in the WALLACE room. It was PERFECT. Very clean and spacious for our 3 nights there. Our hosts Olive and Jim were very helpful in directions and booking our tours. If arriving by train it is best to take a taxi to the B and B.(it would be a very LONG walk up the hill from the train station!) For trips into the town center, we took the bus which was one stop away on a main street. Buses run all the time. Get at day pass for 3.50, it's worth it!
Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS! Even if you hate the thought of haggis, Olive's sample portion was worth the try. I would say that of all the places we stayed this was one of our favorites. It deserves the BEST rating!!

Room Tip: stay in the Wallace room! It's huge!!
