The room was rather small, however the decor was lovely, the bed was very comfy and the shower was fantastic. The hotel is very boutique-esque. The staff are very friendly, and the cleanliness is fantastic. You can never go hungry as there are apples everywhere! The location is on one of the prime streets, a 10 minute walk to princes street, not too bad at all. Food is good too. Would definitely recommend.

I booked this trip through a deal found on Wowcher for my boyfriends birthday and can honestly say it did not disappoint.

On arrival to the hotel we luckily found a parking space right outside the hotel and paid £4.70 to park all weekend (I believe this runs after 6pm on a Friday, although I'm not entirely sure).

The receptionist was extremely helpful, and on arrival to our room (petite double) we found it nicely laid out with roses, champagne and classic fm on the ipod docking station/radio. The bed was so lovely and comfortable with clean fresh sheets.

The food we experienced all weekend was wonderful, on the Friday night we ate in the hotel restaurant and the set menu (included in the voucher) was right up our street but I'm sure the chef would have been flexible if it wasn't to our taste.
There was a lovely selection of food at breakfast - the cooked breakfast was quite small but beautifully cooked, and a vast spread of other cold foods available.

The service during our stay has been exceptional - the staff so smiley and friendly, the room service was also fab... Every time we left our room we always came back to lights on, classical music, fresh glasses and the bed made - which was a nice touch. There was also little notes left on our pillow (eg - info about the castle etc).

The walk from the hotel to Princes Street is about 10 mins - although one thing I would warn people about is it the first 5 mins walk is uphill, maybe if you tire easily or have conditions/disability you may want to check this out.

We ate at the Golden Dragon chinese restaurant which is on one of the roads behind Princes Street (sorry not sure which one) and experienced the fastest service I have ever seen - we ordered our food and within about 3 minutes it was being served to our table - the food was lovely with fantastic service. Also - after going to a couple of bars we got a cycle rickshaw back to our hotel, a great little thing to do for fun and if your feet are hurting!

We would definately stay at the Nira Caledonia again :)

We booked the jacuzzi suite for 2 nights. We had an amazing stay. Hotel beautiful, service fab and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Highly recommend. It's close to the city centre. Restaurants like the Mira Mexicana canteens on rosé street are lovely. This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. Breakfast is lovely.

Room Tip: If possible go for the jacuzzi suite. Well worth it.

The hotel was comfortable,we paid extra for exetutive room which was lovely, and had a good view of the city. The room was on the other side of the building so you had to come out side to go to the resturant ect (and it was freezing!)
Food was average,we was on a deal but the menu was very basic,so we paid small charge for main menu. Cooked breakfast was small and we waited quite a long time, and it was not what I ordered!
The hotel is a long walk from Princes st, and it is all uphill, as my husband has a heart condition this was not ideal, but the hotel were very helpfull in getting us taxis.
But overall we had a lovey stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room in main building with view over city.

From the moment we arrived for our weekend break we were delighted with this hotel. The staff were professional and attentive, the suite was spacious and beautifully decorated. I especially liked that the radio was playing Classic FM when we arrived in the suite! Little extras like the coffee machine and the iPod dock were very welcome. (I like listening to music while relaxing so usually have to pack my own iPod dock) The wardrobe was small and the hangers kept jambing in the door but this is a minor irritation. The bathroom was small compared to the size of the room but was well fitted-out. Although it took two of us about 10 minutes to figure out how to turn the tap on to run a bath!
Breakfast was good. The scrambled eggs were delicious. However, I like black puddings to be earthy and wholesome, not tiny little designer rounds on the plate!

Stayed for two nights with my brother in law and his wife. We all enjoyed the stay, good food (breakfast especially), nice clean rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful, no complaints.
However I left behind an item on the bedside cabinet that was of great sentimental value to me ( no monetary value). The housekeeping and staff have not been able to locate this and because if this our stay was completely spoiled. Entirely my fault for leaving it but I'd hoped it would be returned. So we will not be returning

Comfortable, spotless, super breakfast, and fresh apples for guests in the hallways a nice welcoming touch. Staf courteous, knowlegeable and most helpful. Not a regular in the city, but would certainly consider coming here again.
