Lovely B&B. Spent 3 nights here for the Fringe, had stayed here in 2013 too. Rooms are lovely and clean and spacious. Super breakfast. We booked here for the last 2 years because not only is it a very nice place, but it is only 10-15 mins walk to the city centre and has car parking on site so was perfect for us.

We arranged an overnight stay for the Fringe - Whilst most Hotels seem to be charging the earth for room only - The Broughton served up an excellent Bed and (hearty) Breakfast at a reasonable price.
Brilliantly situated in a quiet street two minutes from The Playhouse and a friendly welcome from the owners - what more could you ask for.

My friend and I really enjoyed the four days spent at The Broughton, where there was a friendly
and helpful atmosphere. Everywhere was clean and the beds very comfortable. The breakfasts where very good, cooked as requested, with cereals and fruit available. Tram from airport was best as it took you nearer to the hotel. Local P.H. and Italian Restaurant good value. 48hr Hop on Hop off bus proved to be excellent value for sightseeing etc.

Room Tip: First floor rooms better if you have walking problems.

We stay in Edinburgh annually but our usual hotel was unavailable, so we decided to visit the Broughton Hotel. I am so glad we did. The location is brilliant, handy to walk into town, catch the bus or the tram. The area around the hotel is full of little cafés and bars. The breakfast is delicious and the hosts are extremely helpful. The hotel is small and old which means the rooms and particularly the ensuites are odd shapes but we thought this added to the charm. There is no lift which could be an issue for some visitors but Freddie helped my daughters with their bags when we arrived. The fact that we could leave our car for the duration of our stay was a huge bonus.

Room Tip: There is no lift so guests who may have difficulty with stairs should consider this.

The both of us really enjoyed staying at the Broughton hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. She told us the best places to go for a drink. Breakfast was lovely. They could maybe add more variety of cereal as there was very little choice. A lot more choice of hot food. Location was fine. It's a 10minute walk into the centre of Edinburgh, where the station is and the high street. The room was cosy and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent facilities are given in the room. Would definitely stay here again.

The positive things about the Broughton - Fiona and Freddie were wonderfully helpful, the parking was a bonus, breakfasts were good and cooked to order, the location was perfect, away from the crowds but walkable to everything we wanted to see. Lots of character in the townhouse and the neighborhood with many little cafes, bars, and shops.
The only negatives were that our room was very small and since we were staying 4 nights, it was difficult to unpack and find places to put everything. There was a nice shelf in the bathroom for items which was helpful. Also, being on the top floor proved to be quite hot as the temperatures in Edinburgh were unusually warm. There were no fans but we did get a light sheet to use instead of the heavy comforter which certainly helped. The pluses certainly outweighed any negatives and we were pleased that we had made the choice to stay there. The personal touch and attention given surpasses that of large hotels, and by the end of our stay the Broughton felt like home.

Room Tip: The rooms on the top floor tend to be quite warm if the weather is hot. Make sure the room size fits...
