My partner and I along with another couple stayed here during the Edinburgh Marathon weekend, and we was not disappointed. I'll start from the beginning
The hotel is very easy to find and is on one of the main streets in Edinburgh - George Street. The first thing we noticed was the proximity of the hotel to some great eating places, so we was spoilt for choice for our evening dinner ! We managed to grab a parking space right outside the hotel, and as we arrived after 6pm on the Saturday evening we didn't need to pay until the Monday morning which was an added bonus. Our first impressions of the hotel was how grand and exclusive it felt. We was greeted on the door by a "bouncer" and a member of the concierge who showed us where to check in. We had to walk through the bar and restaurant areas to get to the check in desk and as it was Saturday evening this was quite busy - so it wasn't ideal with heavy bags, but the staff were more than accomodating and helped us with everything, Check in process was quick and easy, and they require a deposit of a card upon check in. We was then advised to get in the lift and that someone would meet us at our rooms. We went up to the second floor and sure enough one of the members of staff was waiting by the lift ready to show us to our rooms.
Upon entering the rooms all we could say was WOW ! The member of staff showed us around our friends room as all of the workings etc are the same in every room. We booked into a standard room but it was far from standard. We was shown how the lights work, the fully loaded ipod, even where the GHDs and hairdryer was and all about the safe and mini bar. Our friends had a beautiful pink room, and ours was red. Each room looked pretty much unique which is what you would come to expect in this type of boutique hotel. The lights are controlled by dimmer switches so its great for creating an ambience in your room, the television is at the foot of the bed and swivels around so you can watch on either the plush armchairs or the extremely spacious and comfortable beds ! The fully loaded iPod was a fantastic idea and had about every song you could think of already loaded into it. Oh and also I will remember to leave my hair straightners and dryer at home next time, as they have GHDS in the room anyway ! The bathroom is something else entirely, ceiling to floor tiles in a beautiful grey colour accented by red light coming from under the sink area. The sink tap was a waterfall tap which was stunning and you get free bath robes and slippers to mooch about it during your stay ! The shower was fantatstic, a huge rain shower head which was easy to work, consistent hot water and just felt so invigorating and refreshing. All of the towels were bright white and spotlessly clean - as was the rest of the room. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and you also get free bottled water as well as some really delicious cookies !!
There are lots of places to eat and drink outside of the hotel but we chose to drink in our bar one evening, it was quite expensive but only what you expect to pay in a city centre location and totally worth it for the lush surroundings. The bar and restaurant area is split up, with a gorgeous mirror room at the front entrance with a bar, then as you continue through the hotel there are some comfy sofas and a log fire, followed by some huge whicker sofas which make you feel as though you should be on a beach somewhere ! Then you are kind of in the restaurant area which is a kind of asian fusion with lots of red at first, then a more subdued Moroccan style in the back the contrast is brilliant. They also have lots of nooks and crannys and booths should you be wanting to hide away from all the hustle and bustle and just have a quiet drink.
We also ate breakfast one of the mornings which was by a modern stone fire in the "moroccan" style area, the breakfasts were delicious - and a good choice for vegetarians too if you have one of those in your party !
Overall we cannot fault our stay here, in fact I would go as far as to say that this is one of THE best hotels I have ever every stayed in. Fantastic from start to finish, and highly recommended.

Having recently returned from a naughty weekend away I feel compelled to write about the excellent service and wonderful rooms found at Tigerlily. From the moment we arrived to our check out the all the staff were hugely friendly, with big smiles and a "can do, nothings a problem" attitude. Of an evening the bar is chock full of Edinburgh's finest dressers, drinking some fantastic cocktails, and if you feel like a little boogy the hotels nightclub in the basement is hugely entertaining. The rooms were beautifully decked out, old school with a modern twist.

In summary a great hotel for a couple ready to party, highly recommend it.

Tigerlily is a hotel, trendy bar, lovely restaurant and nightclub all rolled into one! (Don't let the night club put you off - it's through a separate entrance.
This 23 room hotel is on trendy George Street in the New Town, Edinburgh. (So rather than cobbled streets and dark alleyways (like in the Old Town) you have wide streets and cool bars! The service here is superb, the staff are willing to accommodate any need. The front bar is a great place for a drink - try the Hendricks & Tonic - possibly the best G & T you will ever have. Rooms are excellent - if you can bag yourself a "Superior Room" you will enjoy a HUGE room, your own iPod dock & iPod, fantastic walk in shower and all the comforts.
If it's your first time to Edinburgh you will not be disappointed. The new town is definitely the place to stay.

From arrival to check out everything was just spot on. Dont normally write reviews on hotels, although I stay in a LOT! This time it was myself and my wife for our anniversary, we usually go to quiet hotels in the highlands, but thought for a change to have a more exciting weekend away.

I had never been to Tigerlily, so didnt know what to expect, but the added extras and attention to detail was amazing. Little things like properly comfortable beds, soft towels, good quality toiletries, and quite, super luxury bathrooms.

The restaurant and Bar were fantastic, super lively, amazing wine list and dinner was great, made even better by our waitress who was funny, attentive but not over bearing.

Its is worth mentioning, that this is a pretty full on experience at the weekend, but if this is what youre looking for you wont be dissapointed!

Saying that however, the rooms were silent, and to top it all off, breakfast in bed, no extra charge. YUM!!

This is a good choice if you`re in Edinburgh. The location right on George Street couldn`t be better. The rooms furniture is of a very high standard. The employees are in general quite friendly. It`s as well one of the few hotels in Edinburgh that have some smoking rooms, what is great, since I hate to pay 200£ per night and go outside of the building every time I want to have a smoke. Great is as well the free (or lets say included) wifi that is actually quite fast.

However the negatives where in my case predominant.

The negatives that I experienced during my stay:

- Restaurant/Room service is pricey and you just get mediocre food.
- The inroom folder stated complimentary newspapers (The Scotsman) however 1 night I was charged 1.70£ for it. Callous answer from the receptionist - No, Newspapers aren`t complimentary - didn`t argue any further since it was only a small amount. However if you charge over 200£ per night a newspaper could really be complimentary.
- The room had no seperate shower what was quite inconvenient.
- The very modern but not fully developed lightening system was quite challenging.
- The red lightening of the windows gives you a authentic brothel feeling and doesen`t add to the atmosphere of the hotel.
- The inroom folder stated as well that you can open the windows. However in my smoking room this seemed not to be the case since the windows where behind another glass board. To be able to open the windows is a really nice feature in a smoking room.
- I checked out at the official check out time of 11 AM. I was at the 3rd floor and had a quite heavy luggage. When I got to the elevator (only 1 in the building) there was a out of order sign, due to maintenance.
For a hotel of a format the Tigerlily (wants to be) it should be a matter of course that they don`t schedule maintenance at the check out time.

Overall, I think it`s still a good choice in Edinburgh.

We have made a note of all of your comments and these will be discussed in our weekly management meeting so that we may improve on the areas you mentioned. It was unfortunate that our lift did break down during check out on the day of your departure. For safety reasons we did have to take this out of service until maintenance had solved and corrected the problem, I do apologise for any inconvenience caused here.

We do provide complimentary Scotsman newspapers Monday to Saturday for all guests, there is a small charge applied for these on Sundays and I again would like to apologise for this not being made clear upon your arrival.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate customer comments, good or bad. Customer feedback helps us to improve the service we provide and work towards our continuous goal of always exceeding our customers expectations.
