We had a light lunch for 3 at this restaurant today and am pleased to say that it was absolutely faultless. The service was fantastic, the food was superb and the deal of 2 courses for £15 was excellent, especially since the third main course was charged at the same rate. The salmon pasta was the best I have ever tasted and was served piping hot - something that many restaurants fail to do. We also had the Thai curry which was delicious and beautifully presented. We did not have dessert but what we saw looked extremely interesting and we vowed that we would order some on our next visit. The wine was perhaps a little expensive but the we are in the heart of Edinbugh and during the Festival. I must also mention the decor which was extremely attractive with various different types of areas where you could have just a drink or coffee. We have already planned our return visit!!!

Stayed one evening in a deluxe room during the Edinburgh Festival. Booked on line and for £225 a two course dinner was included.
The rooms were room contemporary and absolutely immaculate, bed linned/robes/bathroom toiletries were to the standard to be expected for the star rating.

Location is perfect for shopping, dining and nightlife with everything a short walk from the hotel.

Breakfast was excellent and brought to the room. Dinner was less enjoyable. The staff were not informed that we were staying on a dinner basis and we were given the wrong menus, which resulted in the wrong bill. This was eventually sorted out by a haughty manageress.....it had been their problem but we were made to feel like it was ours. The quality of the food was fine, but the ambience was more nightclub than sophisticated. As one of the places in Edinburgh that attract the wealthy and the flash, expect to see some "characters"! Not a place to stay anymore than a couple of nights as I would expect you would tire quite quickly of the "glitz and the bling"....other than that book it for a short stay.

We're just coming to the end of a week's stay in this wonderful boutique hotel. The location is just a couple of minutes' walk from busy Princes St, the new side of Edinburgh's main drag. We requested at the time of reservation a room on the 3rd (top) floor facing away from the street, but realized once we got here that all the rooms are quiet. We heard next to nothing from the rooms around us, either.

We love the beautiful wood floors, stunning bathroom with a fancy shower big enough for a regiment, fabulous beds, as well as extra touches like shearling mats for stepping out of bed and candles in the bathroom.

The restaurant and bar downstairs are quite a draw from tea time on through the evening. One can see why; the space is broken up by several different but equally inviting cosy areas. Though it was really hopping, we heard nothing throughout the rest of the hotel.

We got breakfast with our deal. Instead of the usual buffet, you order from the menu. We discovered we weren't limited to just one drink and food order, so there's been plenty of food but with less waste. The quality of everything has been very high.

For those who are not good walkers and want to be in the old Edinburgh Royal Mile area, Tigerlily is not the best choice. For us, however, it was still an easy 15 min. walk to the old city. And in addition to the proximity of Princes St., Tigerlily is very close to the park, the train and bus station, as well as charming pedestrian Rose St. with its innumerable restaurants and shops.
It's so hard to walk through the crowds on the Royal Mile---Princes St. is crowded enough---that we are happier on this side of town.

Finally, the staff could not be more pleasant or helpful. They have bent over backwards to do whatever they can, and always with infinite patience and courtesy.
We recommend Tigerlily very highly.

just returned from a fabulous stay in the lovely Tigerlily only spoiled by the poor service at breafast which put a damper on our short stay. The first morning it took 1 1/2 hours due to unorganised staff-appeared to be no set regime-even tea and coffee took 1/2 hour by then we were dehydrating!!
The second morning only slightly better-1 hour but despite asking for courses to be served in a certain way so us ladies could get shopping it did not happen. No toast was ever offered on either day despite us asking for some. Our friend who is a hotelier was horrified by the service.
Despite this, all the staff in the hotel were lovely especially on reception and our room fabulous-would definetely stay again and hopefully breakfast service would have improved!!

Absolutely loved Tigerlily's, one of the nicest boutique hotel and restaurants I have ever visited. It's so chic and pretty it made me want to emulate it in my own living room! Lol.

If you don't stay at this hotel, please just go for Breakfast and/or cocktails....both incredible!

Staff brilliant and very helpful, and very close to everything Edinburgh has to offer.

Best hotel in Edinburgh, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Try the double cream scrambled eggs!

We stayed the night at Tigerlily after buying a deal from itison. The hotel is gorgeous. We upgraded to a mini suite which had, amongst other things, a DVD library, board games and GHD straighteners! The deal included a cocktail and three course meal which was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic! The staff are a credit to the hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful and seemed to enjoy working there! I would hesitate in recommending it and can't wait to stay again!

We stayed at the Tigerlily for a mini-honeymoon. We had a junior suite for 3 nights.

First the good points:
- the bar is fantastic - we spent a good bit of time sampling the cocktails and bar menu
- the room was huge and beautifully appointed
- the hotel staff were professional and friendly
- breakfast was lovely and is available until 12pm
- the whole hotel has a trendy, laidback atmosphere which was exactly what we were looking for

However:
- on 2 out of the 3 mornings we were woken at 10am or shortly after by housekeeping. Checkout isn't until 11am so we couldn't understand why housekeeping were starting so early. They played music and shouted to each other through the doorways - it was impossible to sleep
- our last night was a disaster because of a hen party in the room opposite us...the night manager came up but it didn't help a huge lot!! If you are looking for a quiet stay then this isn't the place
- the bar area is fantastic but the service is very slow
- we ate dinner in the restaurant one night and our main meals were nearly an hour coming out to us - we were given complimentary cocktails and an apology at the time

In fairness to Tigerlily, they adjusted our bill after we complained about the noise at checkout and they advised that the general manager had been informed.

If you are looking for a party weekend, I'd totally go here! The bar and nightclub is the perfect place for it, and breakfast until 12pm is a bonus. But I would avoid if you are looking for a quiet or romantic getaway.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors are quieter - 2nd or 3rd floor
