“A good boutique hotel experience, on top of a club”

I have stayed here twice, once on business, once on a city break. It suits both purposes: tailored towards a younger crowd, but not so achingly hip that it can't appeal to a range of tastes. The breakfast is good, the dining menu reliable - but since the large, open bar area becomes a club at night, it's hard to forget over your morning croissant that just hours before your seat was getting sloshed by a Cosmopolitan. That said, it's one of the better places for a drink in the area - whether a quiet bar drink in the early evening, or a loud night out until the small hours. Ask the helpful staff for a room that best suits your needs: whether as a well-located base for meeting up and going out, or for getting some proper rest.

Room Tip: At weekends, the higher the floor, the further you are from revellers; the reverse is true if you wa...

We stayed at the Hotel having been there for a meal previously and we were not disappointed, from the moment we arrived until we left everything was perfect.
Our room was very spacious and fitted out to a very high standard, given the choice I would rather stay on the upper floors as you could hear the music from the bar area, although it was just backround noise.
We had not booked a time for our meal in the Restaurant and were told 10pm which was a bit late for us but the staff managed to swap things around and get us into the Restaurant at 7.30 and our meal was really good.
It's a great Hotel in a cracking location.

Booked as a bed for the night whilst visiting The Kitchin for a 40th birthday treat. This is so much more that somewhere to rest your head. Staff were amazingly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The decor and ambiance was out of this world! Beautiful in every aspect. From the amazing bar and restaurant area to the huge mirror balls that dominate the hotel stairwells. The room was unbelievable. Like something from a glossy designer mag. The bathroom was the size of a usual hotel room! Brilliant. Will definitely visit again.

I didn't think there were still hotels like this in Edinburgh. The bar areas have been updated since our last visit for drinks there, although we'd never stayed. Lovely big room, we had a luxury double. View wasn't up to much, but that wasn't the reason we were there. It came with an iPod preloaded. The staff were excellent and the food in the restaurant was really good. Liked the breakfast too. My only small comment, not a complaint, was that there wasn't a residents lounge as the bars are very popular on a Friday night. We would stay again anytime.

BTW: jtp21, we had a voucher too, but didn't feel we were treated as 2nd class. The food choices were excellent and we had a booth for breakfast.

This was my 3rd visit to Tigerlily, but my first stay.......amazing. Service was amazing, staff all seem knowledgeable and are all friendly, but not over the top. The room did not disappoint, well furnished and extras thought about. Food in restaurant excellent, would perhaps have liked a choice of where to sit area wise, as each little section seems quite individual. This hotel has an amazing cocktail bar, first recommended to me on a plane on the way to Edinburgh for a "classy" hen weekend, the best recommendation ever. Don't hesitate book today! Sleep.......could hear the nightclub beat through the floor, would have been better it this was not the case.

This heading may sound a bit strange but it's true! The hotel was very classy and stylish but was not of the style we normally like or would normally book. it is one of the hotels listed in The MR & MRS SMITH brochure. The building itself was certainly glitzy and glamourous. The bars and restaurants very modern, the rooms exquisite but too fussy for us.
The exec room we booked was superb, clean, and very modern.
The room lighting was altered by using 8 different buttons on the wall switch to raise and lower the ambient light . Last thing at night we gave up trying to turn off the lights completely to darken the room and ended up sleeping with the light level set at it's lowest. we could not figure out how to get the lights totally off! there was also fancy red lights to illuminate the windows at night but only some of them worked.
The bathroom was lovely but the rainfall type shower head was set so near the wall you could virtually only get one side of you showered at a time & I'm skinny. The washhand basin had a waterfall type outlet that looked good but was a bit of a pain to use.
At 5pm we were both in our room and someone ( not staff) used a hotel passkey to enter our room. I went to reception to notify them but the only response was 'oh dear' and they changed our keycode. I was worried that someone had access to other rooms as well as ours.
The beds were absolutely wonderful to sleep in, one of the best anywhere but unfortunatelly the fire alarm went off 3 times at 3am and that was me awake for the rest of the night. The hotel did leave a note apologising for these false alarms.
The hotel seems aimed at the young and the beautiful ( with money) or those with a very good business expense account. Unfortunately we fell into neither category! This was particularly noticeable in the age of the staff - no-one seemed more than 30 years old! this made me feel very old.

Spent 2 nights at Tigerlily with my mum as a birthday treat, everything was fantastic! From the minute we stepped out of the taxi and were met by an extremely helpful young lady, right through to check-out, everything was exceptional. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was fabulous as were the cocktails!! Breakfast was also very good. We stayed in room 29 which is gorgeous and had more than enough room for the two of us.

My mum was absolutely delighted and we will definitely return
