“Tiger Lily Please Adopt Me”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

This is one of my favourite places. I have been here on a few occasions and it has never disappointed. First visited for cocktails while on a hen weekend 2 years ago. Staff extremely accommodating and the interior is so fabulous. Returned just before Christmas last year for charcuterie sharing platter and wine with a friend. The atmosphere is such that we got chatting to fellow diners about how special the experience was. This time I managed to explore all of the dining areas as it wasn't as busy as previously and love how each area has a different 'vibe' would love to try every one of them. Again service was spectacular. Toilets welcoming and very clean. Again returned in March this year for afternoon tea and kettle of cocktail. Its not often I cant manage to finish cocktails but there was so much offered I had to concede defeat. The afternoon tea was lovely and it is one of the few places who have actually asked which sandwich fillings we would like. Afterwards we sat in the bar for another cocktail (the bar staff tailored a mocktail for my partner as he was driving and took as much care over that as the actual cocktail) We enjoyed just relaxing and people watching as it was quieter than evening time (we went Sunday pm). The bar staff's attention to detail was riveting and you can tell staff are trained to the highest level. Great location as so near to shops. Cant wait to go back would love to stay soon to see what the rooms are like.

My husband booked a weekend break for the two of us whilst our youngest daughter was away on a school trip to Amsterdam. It was booked through secret escapes. When pulling up by taxi outside the hotel the taxi driver said your husband has spoiled you. The interior design and deco is to be admired. First impressions very favourable. We had 2 lunches in the hotel both of which were very nice. The staff were all wonderful and we couldn't believe the contrast between day and night. We were definitely in The Place to be seen. A very busy place surrounded by lovely people. Our room was situated on the second floor. Bed was very large and comfortable. Bedding very crisp Egyptian cotton. Lots of eye to detail. Edinburgh has so much to offer. Would love to visit again. Ate at Ship on the Shore down in Leith and Dusit, within walking distance of hotel. Both very good choices. Would probably opt for Fishers in the city as opposed to ship on the shore next time to avoid taxi costs of £20 return. Visited royal yacht, holyrood palace, castle and whisky experience. Well worth a visit!! Jill from Bolton

Room Tip: We couldn't hear any noise whatsoever from downstairs once we got in the lift. We stayed in room...

We loved every aspect of our stay here. The Lounge, reception, bar and restaurant areas are all individually decorated in stylish designer fashion without being over the top. Every member of staff we spoke to was pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were well appointed. We will definitely be coming back.

We paid £380 for two nights. This did not include breakfast or nightclub.

If you liked this place then you will love Ondine restaurant.

Room Tip: Only the luxury rooms include a bath.

Me and my boyfriend came here for my 21st Birthday. We paid £430.00 for two nights in a double room (I think it was a standard double). This included daily amenities replenished in the hotel room i.e fruit, towels, tea & coffee etc. It also included a complimentary breakfast every morning and entry to the nightclub next door. It was a nightclub where you definitely would want to wear your gladrags. It's located in George Street where it's literally a 5 minute walk to all the shops like New Look, River Island, Next, Primark etc and a 2 minute walk until you see the castle in the distance. Walk another 5-10 minutes and you get to old town where there is the Royal Mile, Grass Market and the older historical buildings and monuments, ghost tours and tourist attractions.
It's a 10 minute walk from Waverley station and there is an NCP carpark nearby. We looked at the prices and thought we would be paying about £40 for the 2 nights (24 hours = £19.50) but it was only £26 so that was a nice surprise!
The hotel itself is a beautiful building - the outside is part of the older historical buildings and its 3-4 stories high - when you walk in you see the modern bar and restaurants, and the decor is gorgeous and chic - massive chairs, dimmed lights etc. The bar staff come round and offer to get your drinks for you if you haven't been to the bar already - I was stuck for choice for a cocktail but the waitress was lovely and recommended a couple and my boyfriend had a lager. We had bar snacks as well which I thought were fairly priced (Chorizo sausage, salad and homemade bread for 4.95 and skinny fries with basil mayo for 3.65) and the atmosphere was very sophisticated, it made us feel posh! On our way out, because we weren't familiar with the area the lovely receptionists printed us off a map and gave us directions and pointed out things to see, like the castle and Camera Obscura and gave their honest opinions about what was worth seeing. George street itself has more high end nightclubs, whereas the old town has more traditional old pubs.
For breakfast the next day, we had a card in our room that asked us to tick boxes of what drinks and breakfast we wanted, and then asked to hook it on our door by 2am which is a fair enough time! You could choose from a fry up: 2x bacon, 2x sausage, 2x eggs, haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes, sauteed potatoes and toast, along with a choice of juice drink AND hot drinks. The other options were different versions of eggs benedict, continental breakfast, cereals and bacon/sausage/egg rolls. We had the breakfast delivered to our room (room service) for no extra fee, and you can CHOOSE the time you have it delivered! The breakfast was outstanding, so delicious, hot on arrival and very generous portions!
When we got back to the hotel after a day out, the room had been cleaned and replenished and the maids were so polite, always saying hello to you if you walked past you.
We never got to have a meal there apart from the bar nibbles, but the place was always busy which I think says it all about the quality of meals they served. The bar staff were experienced, and I read a few reviews and a negative point was the noise from the nightclub. We stayed over the weekend, we were on the second floor and we never heard any noise from the nightclub - this may differ depending on what room your staying in, but honestly we never heard a thing.
We are 100% going to be coming back and we will not bother looking at any different hotels - the Tigerlily has it all, class, chic style, polite staff, good food and you really get what you pay for! Can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: If you are looking to avoid nightlife noise choose a higher up room. It's best to walk when you...

I stayed here last year for 1 night DBB.. and I cannot fault the hotel 1 bit.

The rooms are gorgeous with a massive walk in rain forest shower. The Mini bar is stocked with all the essentials you would need for your stay. Robes and slippers were also provided in the rooms which made it even more comfortable.

Dinner that evening was brilliant and the cocktails were fab too..

The next morning we had breakfast in bed and it was just wonderful, one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel.

All the staff in the hotel were magic and couldn't do enough for you, so a big thank you to you guys for making our stay so perfect!

Can't wait to return for another over night.
