Right where to start, we arrived at annendale street where we expected to pick up the keys however we were sent to queen street by a poster on the door. when we arrived jonathan (manager) was very abrupt to us telling us how we will be liable for any damages etc. when we got to the studio apartment we were unable to find our stated private parking! we rang up and they said there will be off road parking a minute walk away from the apartment, however, no parking was to be found! they said that there is no private parking and it did not say so on the website which was a lie! they expected us to pay £20 a day parking, then at 6:30pm to move the car onto yellow lines until 8:30am then move it again to pay a further £20 a day not impressed as it advertised private parking and also a photo of it on their website! we settled in anyway, then at 2:30am the boiler was making very loud disturbing noises for a few hours we eventually turned it off as we couldnt stick it no longer, then at 3:30-4:00am the whole building was shaking as a drunk roudy man entered the building he stormed up the stairs slamming all of the doors shouting and swearing and was typical he was next door to us! a glass or some sort was thrown at a wall me and my partner were shaken up and had to sleep with knives next to us! the following morning we went straight to the office they changed our room to the royal mile however up 95 spiral steps which we were expected to carry our suitcases up when we eventually got there we found people stayin in the same room! back down to the office we went after allready wasting a day of sightseeing they sent us to castlebank street which was situated in what i personally would class as the slums the duvet didnt even fit the quilt we went to sleep by the noise of banging music and woke up by drilling, however they did give us a 25% voucher for the living room restraunt witch was very nice .. how ever when our bill came they hadnt been informed of our discount and then only recieved 20% ..scottish aparntments really need to get some trained staff...go to edinburgh but not with them they are useless!!!!!!!!

You pay for what you get, no luxury, basic equipment but pleasant stay. Enough to have a shower and sleep since most of the day we were in the city centre. Kitchen included within the room which is a good alternative bearing in mind that having lunch or dinner is quite expensive in Edinburgh. The room was small, but enough for two people. The shower is very old and it makes some strange noises when having a shower with hot water. Poor curtains and from 6am onwards the light comes directly into the room and you can't sleep well. Poor cleanliness since it's an old apartment in an old building. Make sure you contact them before arrival since you have to collect the keys in a different address and this is not shown in the confirmation. Kind and friendly staff, though. Far away from city centre (30 min walking). You can find a Tesco at the corner and some nice pubs to drink a good Ale! Botanical Garden is just 10 min walking from Broughton Road.

From looking of this site i started to get very concerned about these properties. I booked to stay in the New Town Appartments. This was the cheapest option so i wasn't expecting the most fantastic facilties however i was happy with the appartment.

There were a few things that weren't very professional for example the lightbulb in the bedroom didn't work, there was washing up liquid but no cloth, the toilet roll holder fell off the wall, as well as the towel holder in the bathroom.

However, none of the problems were that serious. The appartment was warm, comfy and we got what we paid for. I would stay there again as it served us fine. All the problems were simply cosmetic.

One piece of advice i would like to give though is get confirmation of everything you are promised and ring them to double check everything before you leave. They put us in the wrong apartment initially but as i kept asking them for conformation etc it was fine. I also printed everything as a back up as i was worried from previous reviews.

  • Liked — Being able to have a whole apartment rather than just one room.
  • Disliked — Initial confusion over appartment and some extra charges

Stayed here for 4 nights, just for a city break. I think the place was newly opened at that point, or being refurbished, as ours was one of the only occupied apartments, the rest seemed to be having work done.
Some people might find it a little far out, but if you don't mind a bit of a walk it's fine. The studio room was a little small, but we only used it to sleep in, and catch a bite to eat, not to spend any significant amount of time in.
Considering the price, it was very good indeed! Would definitely recommend for those wanting a break on a budget.

We thought this was a really great deal. We had an entire, clean apartment. It was so nice to have a stove and fridge and not have to go out to eat every night. There is a Tesco Grocery Store right down the street so we were able to buy groceries and cook for ourselves. They had pans and dishes to use. The location was a little far from The Royal Mile but we were still able to walk it. Families might find it too far but is not a long taxi ride there either.

We booked the apartment through RyanAir.com and were unfortunately confused by the room's actual location relative to the check-in office. While the website's booking page did state the address of the check-in (which I realized only after returning from the trip), the confirmation Email did not. As such, my girlfriend and I ended up lugging our bags from Prince's Street to the Broughton Road address on the Email only to find a note that check-in must occur at the Queen Street address. I's about a 15-20 minute walk from the check-in to the address, so if you have bags you don't want to carry, consider a cab or bus.

Upon arrival at the check-in desk, I expressed frustration at the mix-up, and the concierge offered to phone us a cab but would not pay for one. We were offered a one-hour late check-out at no additional cost to compensate (£10 value). The concierge was also willing to hold our bags for us as we went to get a drink to take a break from walking, though the holding service is a free service offered, anyway.

Unless you're an avid walker, you will want to take buses (either the #36/37; we can't remember which) to and from Princes Street for access to most attractions as the apartment is really nowhere near anything of much interest and it's about a 15-minute walk to Princes Street. There is a Tesco grocery store and a couple of pubs and restaurants (the Stag's Head at the corner was quiet and cheap), but this is not a typical vacationer's hot spot. Nonetheless, after busy days and nights in the heart of Edinburgh, it was nice to be able to go to a more low-key resting spot.

Thank you for your review; all feedback is very important to us.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused at check in.

We try to contact all guests prior to arrival to remind them that check in is at 6 Queen Street; with certain reservations we only receive limited guest information and therefore it isn’t always possible.

Our Reservations and Marketing Departments work with agents on a regular basis to ensure information is clear and up to date. We would stress that it’s important to read all the information given on the agency website, since there's often additional confirmation that you won't get on the confirmation.

The New Town Apartments are within easy walking distance of all the attractions Edinburgh has to offer, and a number of bus routes run close to the apartments for guests who prefer this option.

Thank you once again for your feedback.
