“Wifi not included”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

At the bookingtime the Room details were: 1 double room Double bed, Private bathroom, TV, Wi-Fi, Coffee/tea making facilities, fan.
To me this means: Wi-Fi -is- included!
At arrivel they asked £ 3/day. The budgetplaces is not correct representing their offer.
the £ 5 breakfast is poor quality. The 2nd day we went out for breakfast.

Room Tip: Price/quality is poor

It was basic accomodation, the guy on the desk was very pleasant, our roof was *compact* it has to be said, but it was clean. Dated perhaps but for a one night stay it was absolutely fine. For the money we paid (£45.00 for the room no breakfast for the two of us) it was absolutely fine. Had a small tv and dvd player, so all in all no probs at all.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the 2nd floor coombed ceiling rooms, very small.

We booked here because it was bank holidays and we couldn't find anything more central. We consider the price was too high and we had some other expectations about the hotel but the room was nice with a clean and spacious bathroom.

Breakfast is not included and they should have provided us of some other facilities like hair-dryer but at the end we enjoyed it and we think that in any other time of the year with a more reasonable price it would be a good option.

Hotel is not worth, what they charge for!! They charge for hotel and basic amenities were missing. No shampoo or body wash was provided. instead hand wash was given in shower. The room shown in picture does not match with real room actually given. Overall, not recommended.

Room Tip: Not recommended. Seemed to be quite an old establishment.

Alarm bells rang when I saw the flashing neon sign in the window. On entering the building we were greeted with an extremely tatty and run down decor with a strong stench of cigarette smoke.
With trepidation we went to our room. This proved to be equally as awful if not worse! The shower room was so small we could barely fit in (neither of us are big by any stretch), the room was so small the only thing in it was a hard bed! All in all a terrible hotel and I would recommend looking around.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Stayed in this hotel last night and have to say it left me very confused, on approach it looks like a typical Edinburgh town house , but when you step through the front door it looks tiered and run down, the welcome you receive is very friendly ,professional, and personal, given room directions I discovered a bit of a maze to my room lower ground, at the back ,on finding room 28 I was surprised it was very small, very basic, yet it was warm ,the bed was clean and had fresh sheets, mattress protectors, the shower and toilet were next door and it's been a long time sine I've experienced walking through the hall to the shower in a towel, glad no one saw me.shower was hot and modern design and a lot of thought has gone into it ,it was spotlessly clean,so all in all an odd hotel , the best way I can explain this is if you asked me would I stay there again I would say yes but if you asked me why i couldn't really tell you.

Room Tip: Ask for a big room with a window

Booked this as a present for my mothers 70th Birthday. I'm aware the price wasn't over expensive and therefore didn't hold out hope for a palace. However...never expected to end up staying in such an unsafe and unfit for human use hotel!
On arrival the staff just about managed to speak English but not only this, they weren't very friendly either. Off we went up to our attic room, to which on the way up there the first incident was that I nearly went flying back down the stairs due to a lose part of the edge of one of the steps.
We get in to the room and first thing we noticed was how cold it was. Although radiators seemed to be on in the hallways, the one in our room wasn't.
The carpet looked filthy and didn't appear to have been hoovered for god knows how long. But hey ho...we thought we hadn't paid an awful lot and we were only staying two nights so stuck with it.
We went out for the afternoon and evening and came back to the room late that night soaking wet due to the rain. We thought perhaps the radiator will be on when we get back so we can dry out but no such luck.... the radiator was obviously out of order and the room very cold.
The first morning we decide to have a shower in what appeared to be a relatively clean bathroom...all be it apart from the dirty shower head and the sink that was cracked and had been glued back on...could have broken and fell at any time. Jumped in the shower and our next little surprise was the fact that the water would just go off every few seconds and come back on when it felt like it.
We then went down to the reception to complaint as to me I was entitled to some recompense. When advising the lady that the place wasn't fit for a human being to stay she actually agreed and said 'I know', which doesn't to me give anyone much confidence.
She didn't offer to help in anyway and didn't really want to know.
Suffice to say, if you want to stay in a hotel where you can barely swing a hamster around in your room, you don't want a shower during your stay, you don't mind being freezing cold and nearly flying down the stairs due to a badly maintained building then you are in the best place. If you do however want a shower and to feel warm, welcome and safe then please DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DONT STAY HERE!!!! Really this place needs to be shutdown.

Room Tip: Just don't go there!
