“Beautiful and professional”
Reviewed 5 July 2011

We stayed in this really beautiful house again and we felt at home; everything was perfect: great room and really good breakfast buffet;
Noreen and her husband are very professional and very kind. We will certainly return, we stayed here two years ago. The bathroom is new and all is extremely clean.
The house is very easy to reach, bus or walking;

This delightful four star establishment in Edinburgh's dignified Bruntsfield district has a style all of its own winning it a memorable place in the heart of city guest house land. Each room has been carefully designed by its arty owners to combine comfort with quirkiness and provides the traveller with welcome respite from a world of hotel uniformity.
Owners Noreen and Ali Crighton are devoid of pretention but aware that individuality is key to survival in their field. Breakfasts are hearty, generous and well presented and have been served up and tailored over the years for visitors from Orkney to Outer Mongolia. The Victorian mansion has original shutters and many of the fixtures and fittings of a bygone age updated by splashes of colour chosen from a contemporary palate. A distinguished Gaelic theme marks your place on the map and helps contribute to a vacationing experience that stays with you for a long time. Great restaurants are only a stone's throw away on the main thoroughfare - icing on the cake, if it were needed.

Room Tip: all the rooms have their individual charm

We loved all about it and shall return. You can walk to the centre of town, but the B&B is very quiet and in a small residential road.

My visit to Cluaran Guest House was superb. Friendly, family-style hospitality, beautiful rooms full of character and the most scrumptious breakfast made my stay a really memorable one. It is located about 10-15 minutes walk from the Royal Mile and is close to the bus for guests with sore travellers' feet. It was a great . It was the first place I stayed on my trip and one of the best.

If you are lucky enough to find out there is a vacancy at the Cluaran, don't hesitate and book a room. From the moment you enter the house, meet the owner Noreen (and her little dog Lulu) you will feel at home. The rooms are spacious, if not luxurious, the beds are comfortable and starting the day on Ali's breakfast is a treat. The beautiful and elegant house is located near the Meadows (a must see in Edinburgh) and the cozy shopping street Bruntsfield Place (with nice little shops), where you will find some nice places to eat (e.g. The Apartment and Lemon Grass, a Thai restaurant).

Wonderful B&B near the center of Edinburgh, family atmosphere with a lovely host couple who really look after their guests. Always ready with a smile. Generous breakfast, clean rooms, quiet location. If you're walking into town, take comfortable shoes as Edinburgh is hilly. Sleep quality is purely subjective as I had to get used to having other people in the house which I'm not used to at home but is nothing to do with the quality of the bed I slept in. Enjoyed my week's stay thoroughly and felt very much like I had to leave newly made friends.

Good location. Tasty Breakfasts. Very friendly hosts. Handy advice. Comfortable room. Beautiful decor.

The single (room) bed was a little soft for a male...

Suggestion: Free wireless internet?
