We arrived at Hart Street, and were pleasantly surprised to find this architecturally interesting townhouse, with it's walls lined with striking images, and a warm, pleasant welcome from the owners, James and Angela. We stayed a room in the lower level, with a window facing the ivy covered wall in the back. The bedroom was nicely proportioned, with a bright, light color on the walls and elegant furnishings. The nice touches like tea service, biuscuits, and wine were great in the room!. The shower had wonderful water pressure and relaxed tired feet from touring. In the mornings, they prepared the most filling and delicious Scottish traditional breakfast, with eggs, cereal, bacon, and Black Pudding. We skipped lunch it was so filling! The hosts were very helpful in recommedning restaurants, and offered to let us use their phone when an emergency with our travel plans came up. We used the trains, buses and our feet while in Edinburgh, so parking wasn't an issue. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in the middle of a nice residentai neighborhood.

14 Hart Street is a wonderplace to stay. The house is amazing, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. A nice touch is the tray with free whiskey and wine!

A friend and I stayed in the twin room for 4 nights in July 2011. The room was a good size, elegantly furnished, and looked out to a quiet back garden. The bedding was lovely, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was small, but well appointed and the shower was excellent. As well as tea, coffee, water, and biscuits, the room was provisioned with wine and whiskey! What a treat! The breakfasts were delicious - well prepared, well presented, offering lots of choice. The location was excellent - an easy walk from the bus or train station, Princes Street, and the Royal Mile. Our hosts, James and Angela, were charming, informative, and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

Angela and James are most gracious hosts. We could only stay one night in the spacious, well-furnished room which we were shown to immediately upon our arrival. There was wine and whisky waiting for us, which was much appreciated after a day of travel. The house is absolutely stunning. Breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. I could go on......... The next time in we're in Edinburgh, we'll return.

I really cannot recommend 14 Hart Street more highly. This beautiful house set in a quiet street a few minutes from the bustle of central Edinburgh is one of the friendliest, most relaxed and yet elegant places I have stayed in a long while. The rooms throughout the house are really quite beautiful and our room in the basement of the house was very comfortable and airy. The shower was super-powerful and we had all that we needed including wifi, TV, guides to the local area and, of course, the option of a pre- or post-dinner tipple with the wine and whisky in each room. The breakfast was equally brilliant. Pretty much anything you could wish for was available and none of the usual time restrictions on when it was served. A yummy selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, dropscones and a vast array of jams for toast were perfect for me. My partner opted for the cooked breakfast and was equally satisfied. James and Angela were wonderful hosts; incredibly warm, friendly and knowledgeable. They even allowed us to stay in our room till late in the afternoon at no extra cost and when I left my phone charger in the room got in contact immediately and posted it back. Really fantastic service and their relaxed attitude to our stay was just what we needed for a sleepy weekend away.
We can't wait to come back!
