“A perfect stay - thank you!!”

I found this wonderful B&B completely by chance and would highly recommend it to other visitors to Edinburgh. The hosts, James and Angela were extremely helpful throughout my stay and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I found that the central location was perfect and enabled me to access all of the city's major attractions within easy walking distance. Everything else from the comfortable rooms to the fantastic breakfasts made my stay in Edinburgh extremely enjoyable and I will definately be back soon!!

We stayed at Hart St. in mid November, and loved every minute of our short weekend getaway. Agree with everything the below reviewers have said - James and Angela are among the best hosts we've ever had; they are great cooks (the breakfasts were amazing and cooked to order); and the room is everything we wanted, and at such a great value. After coming back from Paris where we paid a little more and had a very icky, cold, and horrible room with a freezing shower, we doubly realized what a gem Hart St. was. Water pressure and heat were great, bed was huge and comfortable with a great duvet, and the furnishings adorable. The water, wine, and whiskey were much appreciated as well. Location was great, you actually felt like you were a resident of Edinburgh (and very quiet) - but nice restaurants were right around the corner. To top off everything, we had a very very early flight on Sunday, and James and Angela were both up to fix us a breakfast (we didn't put them through the pain of a full one although they offered repeatedly), and then James gave us a quick lift to the Waverly bridge, which was so kind, especially as it was pretty cold out. It's only a ten minute walk to Waverly, but at 6 AM that ride was much much appreciated. Like I said, amazing hosts, and when we come back, we will definitely be staying at 14 Hart St.

We found ths Bed and Breakfast through tripadvisor. The reviews enticed us with their comments about the freindliness of the owners and the comfort of the rooms. When we arrived we found the property to be just as described, beautiful decor, and comfortable surroundings. The rooms are excellent with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, whiskey and shortbread. The owners made our stay welcoming with their added care and attention. The location is superb, close to the shops and within walking distance of some fabulous restaurants. We will return in the future.

  • Liked — The decor
  • Disliked — The bed - its a bit too high.

I stayed 3 days with my daughter and enjoyed every moment! When we arrived, we were given a warm welcome by Betty the housekeeper. In the evening we met the hosts, James and Angela, who were extremely nice.

Our room was perfect. Clean, warm and very quiet. We had a welcome tray which was topped up each day. The bed was very comfortable. We were only about a 5 minute walk from Princes Street and the station where were caught the shuttle bus to the airport.

After a long day walking around the sites we were very happy to get back to a lovely warm room. In the mornings we were given a copious breakfast.

I would happily come back here on my next visit to Edinburgh.

I stayed for a long weekend with my mum and was really impressed with the accommodation and the hospitality of the hosts. We arrived early in the morning but our room was already prepared for us so we didn't have to walk around with our suitcases. When we left we were allowed to leave our luggage at the b&b all day, as our flight was in the evening.

We had a great time in Edinburgh and our experience at 14 Hart st made it all the more enjoyable. The wine and biscuits in our room were topped up every day and the breakfast was very copious. I really think that some of the negative comments are totally unfounded, as we had a wonderful time at 14 Hart st and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a friendly, comfortable B&B in the heart of the city centre.

We will definitely come back next time we visit Edinburgh.

I can recommend 14 Hart Street without reservation. My wife and I were extremely impressed with the great care and attention we were afforded during our three night stay. James, Angela and Betty were all deeply concerned to ensure we had we did not want for anything. As noted in another review, James had a keen knack for sensing whether we wanted a bit of a chat or simply to be left in peace.

The accommodation was wonderful - awaiting us in the well-appointed room was a tray furnished with whisky, wine and nibbles. The bed was inviting, and the shower soothing. Betty's breakfasts were delightful and filling.

There was nothing about which to grumble during our visit, but I felt assured that if I had raised any issue, James would have quickly addressed and resolved it. This is as it should be.
