“Perfect way to spend an evening in Edinburgh - it's got everything!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

We went on this tour with my parents at the weekend whilst they were over visiting (we live in Edinburgh). The tour is really fabulous - it's a great mix of history, culture & entertainment played out by a couple of great actors in and around the historical old town. The tour starts in the grassmarket at the Beehive Inn where the scene is set by Clart and McBrain - a highly amusing and extremely entertaining duo who compliment each other perfectly - and through their tales show there's always two sides to every story in history! Throughout the tour you visit a number of pubs - The Beehive, The Jolly Judge, Ensign Ewart and finish at the Cafe Royal. The tour takes in some of Edinburgh's famous closes and their courtyards are where Clart and McBrain play our history with their own unique twist. A truly great way to spend your evening - highly recommended - a must do!!

“Outstanding”

I saw this tour on Rick Steve's TV show and immediately signed us up a few months ago. We met the tour at the Beehive Pub in GreenMarket. After a preliminary explanation of the night's activities we were off. We visited four pubs and learned some great Scottish literary with a lot of tongue in cheek commentary. Our guides were SImon and Keith. We really enjoyed this!

“An unusual angle to the history of Edinburgh”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

The tour was very enjoyable. Funny and insightful way of learning the literary history of the city. The actors were witty and informative without the dialogue seeming scripted in any way. Visited a couple of good pubs which otherwise might not have been found. Recommended (even for non-literary buffs)

“Part theatre, part history, park drinking, all AWESOME”

I saw this on Rick Steves and thought it sounded like a lot of fun. Not only was it fun, it was also our best night out in Edinburgh! We has a seriously good time and were entertained and quenched our thirst along the way! What not to like?

PS I got super excited about their mention of Jekyll & Hyde the musical. Bring on the Hoff DVD!

Great way to have a few pints and see some great literary sights. The guides were amazing and good natured throughout with humour and indepth knowledge of the area and history. Highly recommend.
