We stayed in the Drummond Street apartment, despite our print-out stating West Nicolson Street. It said further down (on Page 2) "please note the apartment is in Drummond Street", but I'm still not sure why the other address is stated, what's the point? So a bad start, we had to take our suitcases down the busy main road and around the corner. The office staff were unnecessarily snooty, telling me off for "storming off" when I'd advised that elderly relatives were waiting outside the apartment after a long day's travel. Apparently our mistake that they want to charge half upfront and half when you arrive. Again I was informed that I "had to understand, this is a 275,000GBP apartment and we can't just give you the keys" - despite having taken a fair whack of money already. The previous apartment we stayed in in Yorkshire was bigger, better, nicer, cheaper to stay in and probably worth more, and didn't come with any of this snooty attitude. Anyway we made our way past the (no joke) 22 rubbish and recycling bins outside and into the apartment. We'd been informed that there was an "open" mezzanine room, but all the rooms were "open", with my girlfriend's mother eventually giving up and sleeping on the sofa to escape grandmother's snoring downstairs!! On Saturday and Monday we were woken early by rubbish trucks - fortunately we're generally early risers but this could disturb some people. Bed was rock hard so we struggled to sleep, not very wide either, and the shower was bizarre - took a while to get going, but for 5 minutes it was typical boiling hot or ice cold. Location was pretty good, but the unfortunate welcome we received didn't really get us off to a good start. Can't recommend it.

Thank you for your feedback, all comments are taken on board and action taken where appropriate. However, I am glad we are able to respond in a public forum to comments which are somewhat exaggerated or inaccurate. In this instance, I personally recall your arrival at our office, during which you were unsure of who’s name the booking was under, had no Identification and had no monies or other method of payment for the outstanding balance of £498.00. When I explained that without ID and a method of payment we could not give out the keys you became angered and tried to walk out. You were politely asked to stay so we could assist in finding a quick solution for you and your family, which you refused before walking out. The terms and conditions of the reservation, that your father had agreed to at the time of booking, clearly stated that 50% is pre-paid at the time of booking and the remaining balance is to be paid on arrival. When your father arrived he paid the remaining balance without issue, was very pleasant when we checked him in and, despite limited English, understood that we could not provide keys to someone with no ID and no method of payment.

It also clearly states on all our websites (as well as all your fathers confirmation paperwork) that the Drummond Street apartment is located on Drummond Street and is an open plan, mezzanine styled apartment, along with photographs which display the apartment as well. This apartment building is located on a residential street in the middle of a city centre and as a result, there are 4 rubbish bins on the street. However, these are located away from the building door, well maintained and do not cause any kind of disruption in access to the street or building. It is unfortunate that did not inform us that you were experiencing issues with the bed or shower as a member of our maintenance team would have went to the apartment immediately.

At Apartments Edinburgh we strive to provide our guests with the best possible service and offer high quality accommodation. The hundreds of happy guests we have had this year alone can testify to this being the case. I hope you are able to give us another opportunity to demonstrate why we have so many happy guests that genuinely enjoy staying in our apartments

I stayed for one night in Apartment 8 on the third floor of the block on West Nicolson Street with my partner and friend for my birthday. We booked because the price was excellent for a 2-bed apartment and I'd definitely stay again at this price (£79 for a Sunday night).

Check-in was reasonably straightforward. The company have their offices in a close just off the Royal Mile and the staff there are very friendly and helpful.

Our apartment (8) was on the third floor and, being an old Edinburgh tenement, there are no lifts - only relatively steep steps. This was not a problem for us (we studied in Edinburgh so this was expected) but those coming form a more modern land where elevators are the norm should consider themselves warned.

The flat was beautifully decorated. I'm fairly sure that either the flat has JUST been decorated, or the owners take exceptionally good care. Lots of lovely fabrics, a nice thick carpet, and hardwood furniture make this a very nice place to spend your time in Scotland's capital.

The kitchen had a dishwasher and small under-counter fridge. There is a small breakfast table and stools, and there was shortbread, orange juice (from concentrate) and mineral water in the fridge. The cooking was all electric so no gas hobs for those who prefer that sort of thing.

Both of the bedrooms had lovely big weighted windows, traditional to the style, that have been well maintained. They have also added secondary glazing which helps with the noise from the street below. We didn't have any noise issues during our stay. Flat 8 has a double bedroom and a single bedroom. I found the double bed reasonable, but probably not for a longer stay. It wasn't a brilliant mattress and it had person-shaped dents giving away it's age. Unlike hotels who describe they rooms as double, but typically offer a king or larger bed, this room had a double bed which felt quite small so be warned!

Overall this is a great value flat (certainly for £79/night). I don't know how this place is prices during the festival, but it would be an ideal base for experiencing Edinburgh during these weeks as you're close to the action. There are loads of great bars and restaurants around too as this is right in the student area of Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Get a room high up to avoid the noise from the busy street below.

I stayed with my family of 4 members in July 2014 when we attended the Graduation Ceremony at Edinburgh University. The graduation hall was within a 2 to 3 minute walk from the apartment. Many restaurants are within a short walk. There is plenty of street parking nearby and also around the university in George Square at £2,20 an hour but free after 6pm - 8.30 am. An app allows you to pay and add extra time by telephone but you need a code number from the nearest parking machine. There is also a small car park behind the nearby mosque.

The apartments were spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished. The beds were quite comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped although we did not cook during our stay. The staff in the office are very friendly and helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble. The communications and instructions were comprehensive, replies to e-mails were prompt.

I would be happy to stay here again and would recommend to my friend. I plan to visit again for the Fringe Festival and plan to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our 2-day stay in a clean and nicely decorated 2 bed apartment. It's located close to the city centre, about a 10min walk, and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as supermarkets and pretty much everything else you might need. The bedrooms are a bit small, but contain all you need, including a hairdryer. The only thing that could be improved would be the shower; it was perfectly clean and all that, but the electric shower lacks power... Another wee minus was that if we opened the window of one of the bedrooms, exhaust from a flu pipe would occasionally blow in... Then again, there was shortbread as a welcome gift and the office staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, so overall we were very satisfied. Would recommend, and stay again!

I stayed at Nicolson apartments for the weekend with my partner and two friends and we were pleasantly surprised just how nice they were. The bedrooms were slightly on the small side but adequate and the other rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. The kitchen has all the necessary utilities to cook your own meals and there's also a washer drier, dishwasher and plenty of crockery. The apartment was comfortable for the four of us for the weekend and would be adequate for a week or possibly longer. The location was excellent, only 10 minutes away from the train station, and there were plenty of shops and restaurants within a short walk. I would definitely stay here again if I came to Edinburgh again.

Very tidy and stylish, good equipment and nice location. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful, when collecting the key. 3 grocery stores vjust around the corner and a reasonable walk to the center. Actually we usually used taxi because it was so cheap! I'd defenately go again if in a need for apartment in Edinburgh.
