Loved the friendliness of the staff, the good food, and the relaxing and quality rooms. Would recommend it as a great place to stay in Edinburgh. Two minutes walk up the street leads to a nice part of Edinburgh, Bruntsfield with plenty of bistros and small shops like a cheesemonger and baker and fishmonger, and Edinburgh Bookshop. Close to the Links which leads to the Meadows overlooking Old Town.

Very pleased we chose to stay here. A pleasure to be in a residential neighbourhood with non- touristy local shops and restaurants just around the corner. Fantastic welcome from Lydie who was so helpful with recommendations for eating out etc. Room spacious and comfortable and bed the most comfortable I've ever slept in away from home. Very quiet as house in cul-de-sac. Didn't even hear any of the other guests- luck or thick walls? Breakfast very good and served by charming and vivacious lady. Good start to the day.
Enjoyed the 20 minute walk across The Meadow and into the city centre. If taxi required a direct line from house phone makes it very easy or Lydie will advise on local bus service.

Lydia and David were very welcoming (despite our late arrival!), so much more friendly than any hotel and much less pricey. The place was exceptionally clean, including our room, and the bed is the best I've slept in. Great breakfasts every morning.
Parking is limited everywhere in Edinburgh it seems, but we were able to park off the road and behind a locked gate for no extra charge. It was only a 15min walk to the conference centre and 20mins into town.

If like I had, you've trawled the internet looking at City centre hotels in Edinburgh and been pretty uninspired by the quality of reasonably priced options, that get patchy reviews at best, and don't even include breakfast without a further extortionate supplement then look no further. I don't normally go for Guesthouses as I generally prefer hotels but when I saw the reviews for the Albyn on here I thought "why not" and we were extremely glad we did. The standard of accomodation is excellent, breakfast was excellent, the service was excellent and the whole place lived up to the great reviews I'd read before hand. To top it off it came in at least £40 per night cheaper than the city centre alternatives that I' looked at who also wanted a further £15 each for breakfast every day.

We geniuinely could not think of any negative points on leaving. The only thing worth mentioning is that it is a 15-20 minute walk in to the city centre via the park. This didn't bother us but might be a factor for some.

Thank you to Lydie and the team for a great stay, if we find ourselves back in Edinburgh at anypoint, I wouldn't even bother looking for any where else to stay! I think that says it all!

We stayed at the Albyn for a couple of days whilst visiting relatives in Edinburgh. Lydie and David were exceptionally welcoming and the location is great - loads of lovely boutique shops and just 15 mins walk through parks to the old town. It's well worth the trek. Lydie's breakfasts are delicious and set us up for the day. Most of all I will remember how accommodating Lydie and David were to us and our little boy.
