My husband and I had our wedding here 5 years ago on 2nd May 2009. Our wedding was the best day ever, and every single thing went to plan, mainly down to the amazing Wedding Co-Ordinator Kim Gallaher. On our 1st wedding anniversary they invited us back for a beautiful complimentary meal, which was stunning.
This year, we were blown away with Kim, and the staff at Novotel Edinburgh Park, with their thoughtfulness and generosity. We were given a complimentary overnight stay on Saturday 3rd May for our 5th wedding anniversary, bed and breakfast, in one of their beautiful suites, not our original honeymoon suite as there was a wedding on that night.
We arrived to a gorgeous hand-tied bouquet of flowers resembling those used in my wedding bouquet and the top table flowers, in our suite. Then 10minutes later, Kim arrived at our door with a very nice bottle of Prosecco on ice.
We then used the child-free time, to pop into town, jumping on the train 2 minutes walk from the hotel, and straight into Waverley, enjoying some time looking at shops on Princes Street, and a cocktail or two on George Street, then getting the train back, in time for dinner.
We had our evening meal in the Elements restraint, part of the hotel. From the minute we arrived and gave our room number, we were treated like royalty, with the detail 'VIP' replacing our surname on the booking sheet!! Food was stunning, starter, mains and dessert. Service perfect, staff all friendly, all congratulating us on our anniversary. The small details of the staff being informed of the purpose of our stay was lovely.
We were also provided with complimentary movies within out suite all evening.
We were given a late checkout on the Sunday to allow our 3 year old daughter to join us, and go for a swim in the hotel pool.
Everything was spotless, the suite, bathrooms, public toilets, restaurant etc. Such a welcoming hotel, staff are so lovely. Even on checking out, a mention of our anniversary from the receptionist, and checking we had enjoyed our stay.
I know the location of this hotel would not be everyone's first thought for a wedding venue, but PLEASE, I would urge you to have a look, you will not be disappointed! We would do it all again in a flash, and could not recommend them highly enough.
A HUGE THANK YOU to Kim and everyone at Novotel Edinburgh Park, it was a wedding, and anniversary to remember forever xxxx

Room Tip: We were extremely spoilt by having one of the 2 suites on the 5th floor, absolutely stunning, SO spacious, modern and luxurious!

We stayed here for along weekend to watch our team play at murryfield in Heineken cup. It's out of the town centre, only 2 stops. We stubbled across the Xmas festival in princess gardens, it will become a family event every year now!
The hotel has a very small swimming pool and a tiny gym but well appointed but pain in the bum that you need to carry room key to get into changing room.
We had one meal in the restaurant which was ok bit prices. We got recommended to eat at the premier in 3 mins away or Tescos.

I've been staying here 4 or 5 nights a week since the end of February. It's convenient for the businesses on Edinburgh Park and the station to get into Edinburgh or to Glasgow.

The staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms are well proportioned with a decent en-suite. The showers are great once you figure out the controls. The beds are comfortable, the TV is OK but channel choice is limited. The free wifi is OK .. just. In two months I have had 2 problems in the room and both were fixed quickly.

I have used the pool once. It's small so if you want a decent swim I wouldn't bother. I haven't used the gym so can't comment.

The food is a mixed bag. Another reviewer commented about the heat lamps drying out the breakfast and I'm afraid I can relate to that. I go with a room only rate now. However, evening meals in the restaurant are pleasant. The soups are worth a mention as was the Beef Ragu although that's no longer on the menu. Note to chef .. Can we gave that back?

One last point, the hotel is L-shaped with the far end / back of the hotel nearer to the rail line. The few rooms closest to the line do get a bit of noise when the fast trains go through EP station.

Overall, it's comfortable and, for me, convenient.

Thank you very much for your recent review of Novotel Edinburgh Park. We will pass your comments to our Head Chef who always welcomes feedback from his diners. We are trialing 'Special' menus within the hotel so the Beef Ragu may make an appearance very soon. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Stayed here a couple of nights for an event at Highland showground. Nice room with good facilities. Handy for station to get to Edinburgh city centre. Didn't try restaurant as ate with friends at premier inn across the railway, (which was really good surprisingly), but breakfast good. Would probably try premier inn next time and save the money, unless you want the pool etc.

Second stay just incase the first was a one off. Welcome check in is alright, room is alright but bed not as comfortable as Premier Inn. Certaintly room was clean enough so the service team try hard. Bottle of water in room £2.50. TV is awful, ok it works but very very limited chanels and only three radio stations. Work desk is nice idea.

Bar was really expensive, £17.00 for two glasses of white wine. We ordered Sav Blanc and Chardonnay served. The barman had only broken english poor fella. I went next door to Premier Inn for a steak, it was better and cheaper!

Breakfast was poor. I pitched up at 09:30 and the very hot heat lamps had recooked the food! I was shown a table surrounded by tables not yet cleared. Look this is top price breakfast being charged, I expect better service.

I asked for recooked eggs and to replenish bacon. No one seemed to keep an eye on the food. The cold cuts were finished and not replenished. Porrige was good however as I asked for fresh cooked. The breakfast IS NOTHING LIKE THE PHOTO its really average and by 09:30 all over the place.

Last time I tried to use the pool but full of families and kids. This time I did not bother. It is a very small pool anyway suitible for wallowing and not actually swimming!!

Overal its alright but at the price charge I judge this as poor value. Go next door for certain value and top quality.

As I checked out there were 12 managers having a briefing, I felt like helping the briefing out! Then no as I am most unlikely to bother to stay here again.
