Getting decent accommodation at a decent price during the Edinburgh Festival is very hard. Thank goodness a friend told me about the Brae. It's in a quiet location but only a mile from the city centre - and if you walk it, that's a mile that goes past Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Palace. If you don't want to walk, there are very frequent buses. The Brae itself is lovely and very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent. Thank you Sandra!

I have stayed here 3 times now for my annual trip to Edinburgh and feel so welcome and relaxed here.

The bedrooms and dining room are spotless and Sandra makes a great cooked breakfast to keep you going while you are exploring Edinburgh.

The frequent bus service into the city stops right outside the B&B or a beautiful walk through Holyrood Park and past Arthurs Seat takes you to the bottom of the Royal Mile. The golden sandy beach at Portobello is also a walkable distance from The Brae.

Great location, great hostess & a great B&B.

As welcoming as could be with good food and very clean rooms. The lady of the house clearly enjoys having guests and will offer as much friendly chat and helpful adivce as you want, without being at all pushy. Dog accepted without difficulty. Very good location (five mins drive) for visitng the city centre. Arthur's seat walkable. Thank you.

Very welcoming! Good sized room with ensuite. Clean and comfortable, quiet and relaxing, 1st floor room looking out to the bowling green. Lovely fresh home cooked breakfast with piping hot tea & toast, yummy. Sparkling clean crockery & cutlery! Terrific bus service, directly across the road. We just missed the number 44 but another came along within 2 minutes - this was at 5pm! Only 10 minutes to the door of the Royal Scottish Academy on Princes Street. Will definitely be back.

We recently stayed at the Brae Guest House while visiting Edinburgh for a friend's wedding. It was more like staying with a friend than staying at a B&B!

When I needed some change for the bus, Sandra (the owner) lent me money. When I'd made a mess of the iron she lent me, she cleaned it up for me. And when a fellow guest enquired about getting a cab to the church for the wedding, Sandra insisted on driving her there herself. Above and beyond!

The basics were all in place as well. Our room was clean and homely and breakfasts were hearty and tasty. The location was good too - it's just about 10 minutes on a bus to get into the city centre.

All in all, a homely place to stay on a trip to Edinburgh.

I stayed here 1 night with my daughter when she was competing in Highland Dancing championships at Meadowbank. We usually stay in the Premier Inn along the road but it was full and I am glad we couldn't get in coz we ended up in a far better accommodation! Sandra was friendly and helpful, going out of her way to help us get to the event on time. The house was clean, warm, welcoming, as was our room. I will probably chose to stay here again in March 2011.
