Historical Pub not to be missed. Fabulous Scottish Fayre food and excellent whiskey menu.

We plumed for Dalwhinnie and Auchentoshan from the high and lowlands, wonderful!

“Step back in time”
Reviewed 26 January 2014 via mobile

Beautiful listed building worth a visit just to look around. Great beer choices very friendly bar staff, good atmosphere and bustling bar. All in all very very nice. We ate with some trepidation following mixed reviews but it was perfectly good nice service. Husband had oysters that were lovely and fresh. Both mains were good washed down with wine that was regularly topped up by attentive staff. Give it a try we enjoyed it very much .

“Very good”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

Regular watering hole, Oysters are fresh as is all the fish on offer, service with a smile always busy, many regulars, interesting old Bar I think it was a show room for Victorian Sanitary ware with tiled picture walls. Well worth a visit if you are in the area of the Scotland Registry of Princess Street.

“A bar with style and history”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

This is a beautiful bar with great interior features and well worth a visit to get a sense of Edinburgh in past times (pity about the fruit machine). It presents itself in a non-touristy sort of manner.
Nice selection of hand pump ales.
Staff were pretty efficient although a bit aloof (all in traditional black aprons). One of our party did mention that the ladies toilet was smelly.
